Having problems with your Vacuums ?

I wondered if it is possible to repair the prong on the electrical plug of our vacuum

Answers :

Yes! You would not so much repair but rather replace it. This may be easily found at any hardware store. You should remove the old one (probably just cut the cord near the plug) bring this into the hardware and find a match. Be certain to use the same type, if it has a grounding plug replace with one (this is for your safety) be certain the black wire within the cord is wired to the plug with the larger width to it. This is for polarity. Other then that it should be an easy fix, take your time and use the proper tools (wire cutters, wire stripper, screw drivers and such.

Yes, it is possible. Cut the old plug off and put on an appropriate new plug available at hardware stores. The more expensive plugs are usually easier to work with.

My Sanitaire Commercial vacuum SC5815 A-2 does not turn on. It is quite new and seems to be "totally dead." Serial number: 0632005978 It is firmly plugged in, I have tried numerous electrical outlets, and I have tried the on-off switch numerous times. I wonder if there is a simple circuit breaker switch somewhere on the vacuum that I could switch without going to a repair shop? Or, I wonder if some latch is loose that shuts off the current, but I have checked the latches and they are clo

Dyson DC23 Vacuum shut off and came on. Thought it was a problem at the electrical outlet as when moving plug it would come on again. Will not come on. Tried another outlet. Is there a reset button somewhere or could the ashes have seized the motor. What can I try besides taking it to a repair sho

Wondering if the head is plugged up because it makes a sound like air is escaping somewhere. I've replaced the original cloth bag with a comparable "O" paper bag from Sears. I tried to see if there was a clog in the hose by placing a broom handle in the hose to see if something would loosen. I also cleaned the filter and the air filter. If the head is plugged, how can I fix it? We can't get the vacuum apart. Thanks.

My vacuum stopped working and tripped a circuit breaker in my apartment. I plugged it into a circuit with higher amperage, and the circuit tripped after the vacuum ran for a few seconds then a bit of smoke puffed out of it. I assume the motor is burned out. Can I repair this? Considering buying a refurbished one for around $70 - which is probably less than round trip shipping back to the manufacturer (this is way out of warranty).

I have a VAX V12 vacuum cleaner which suddenly stopped. The smell indicated Carbon Brush Problems. I contacted a service agent who told me that it was not possible to change the Carbon Brushes brushes on this model and they would need to change the Motor Unit.. To me this sounds very unlikely. Two questions please. Is it possible to change the Carbon Brushes and how do I get the cabinet apart which looks very difficult. I am well qualified electrically to do this job. Regards James Beech

Took my miele canister vacuum cleaner in for repair because the cord had a break in it creating a short. He said it also needed an inter filter ($12.29) and the carbon brushes were worn out ($21.95). Is that possible? Also wanted to service the motor and put in a new seal ($49.95) Shouldn't that include the inter filter and carbon brushes?

We have a 2001 Kirby G vacuum. The cleaning lady was using it in one room, then brought it to another room and plugged it into another receptacle. It wouldn't start. The motor just went out on my 2 year old vacuum with light usage (hardwood floors in a very small house.) The Sears repairpeople are estimating ~ $130 to fix (this includes parts & labor). I'm wondering if it's worth investing $130 into something i've spent $350 on only 2 years ago. Shouldn't these machines last longer ? Is there something I could do to get them repair free as it seems the motor must have been faulty to only have lasted 2 years. Thoughts ?
