Self Propel wheels not enough power to move machine over carpet.
\015 Hoover Wind Tunnel Self Propelled U6430-900 with bag. The self propel wheels don't have enough power to move the machine across carpet. The electric motor turns the self propel wheels but they have very little power. There is a hot or burned rubber smell. The flat belt to the suction fan and the V belt to the rotating beater bar are both good - the suction fan and the rotating beater bar both work properly.\015
Sounds like the transmission might need an overhaul. Take it to a local vacuum repair shop and have them look at the transmission.

On our new carpet (which is not that thick but thicker than the old) I can't set the carpet thickness high enough. The suction really grabs the carpet and bogs down my self-propelled wind-tunnel Hoover. I then have to push down on the handle to tilt the front up. The thickness setting is as high as it will go. Is there some way that I can further adjust this. The machine is about eight years old.

Hoover 6485-900 self propelled will not roll. Self propel switch seems flimsy and I can't tell if it's working. New vac used about five times. I can see a wire moving down near the rollers when I engage the self propel but the wheels don't turn. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

I've had my Dyson DC14 vacuum cleaner now for approximately 9 months and been very happy with my purchase. However, It is used sparingly maybe twice a week at the very most. The problem is when I try to use the item on my carpet, you have to push really hard to get it to move. It's as though the suction power is far to strong. It certainly doesn't glide as I think it should. It still picks up as usual but I cannot imagine that having to 'force' the machine to move is the normal operating procedu

I have a RICCAR 8900 - I have changed the belt and I think I did it correctly. Machine is running well, except the self-propelled portion isn't working. Vacuum only goes so far and then needs to be pushed, and yes I have it on the carpet setting.

I have the Eureka 4870 "The Boss" Smart Vac. The beater bar began to turn constantly and can't be shut by moving the Brush Roll Contol to Bare Floor position or the machine to the upright postion. It has also eaten two new belts. A local tech says he has seen this problem whereby the free-wheel assembly that makes contact with the belt to engage the beater bar is misalgned and cannot disengage. It is usually the chassis which would mean replacement of enough parts that would not be worthwhile

Folks, My wife and I own a three-year-old Hoover U6434-900 self-propelled "Wind Tunnel" upright vacuum cleaner. The problem is that, even on the highest setting (front-end as high as possible), it gets bogged-down in even shallow pile carpet to the point that the brush stops. I've cleaned the machine thoroughly, pulling hair, thread, dental floss and such from the brush (and everywhere else), including unscrewing the brush end caps and pulling out the cat hair mats which formed in there.
Check to see if the V belt sits too deep in the brushroll groove, if it sits too deep you will need to replace the brushroll. the top of the belt should be about flush with the brushroll. also you have to take the screws out of the self propelled uni ... Vacuums
On my hover U6616-900 the self propell work fine on the med setting on med height carpet, but when I go to low height carpet and height set on med the self propell does not pull the vacuum and it is hard to push. Also if I raise the height to the highest setting the self propell works correctly and appears to clen. Any ideas? S/N 090400184555, think this vacuum is maybe 5 years old and my wife uses it lots. Should I think of maybe a complete overhaul or a replacement at this time?
This is a typical problem you are describing. I would recommend you change the belts, this will resolve the "hard to push" and most likely resove your issues. based on the s/n given you maching was made on sept 2004. ... Hoover U6616-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum
Brush Roll belt stops turning durring vacuuming on WindTunnel self-propelled, v belt is a little loose with handle down. Tensioning roll is engaged OK, but fully at the end of its travel. Replaced belts flat and v, but still stops turning even on high carpet setting when vacuuming. Carpet setting and height adjustment appears to be working OK, roll is clean and turns easily when out. Also turns easily until it engages the carpet. Self propel function works just fine.

I recently purchased a Sunbeam Artista EM5900 model coffee machine. I plugged it in and pressed the 'Power' button only to find the power go out. I understand this is short circuiting, so I went and turned the power back on. I then moved the machine to a different powerpoint and plugged it in - the same problem happened and I have tried it countless times on various other powerpoints. Help please?

Hoover Upright Bagless WindTunnel does not self propel (U6625-900). Belts are new, Brush turns strongly. Wheels propel forward very weakly and do not reverse when the handle is pulled backward. Lately, my Kirby Ultimate G has been acting funny. When I push it forward, it's fine, but when I pull it backward on the carpet, the light on the front flickers and the power flutters off an on. I thought it might be the rollers, so tonight I turned the machine over and pulled out the hair that was wrapped around the roller. However, that did not fix the problem. I should probably backtrack a little bit. In the past, I have had problems with the vacuum running over its own power cord.
