Having problems with your Vacuums ?

Hoover windtunnel u6476-910. Brush does not roll. Flat belt and other belt are good. The other thicker belt (called V belt?) does not have tension with the brush roll. How do I make sure it is engaged? Is there a fix? Settings are in "Carpet", "Roll-on", etc. Cleand all hair and bags/filters already.

These machines had a defective switch and a bulletin was sent out to all service depots. If you contact any Hoover Warranty Depot, they will replace the switch, wiring harness and tool receiver under a no-charge warranty. It doesn't matter how old it is, but it must be listed in the serial number listing as one of the defective machines. It is possible that the switch just failed, as any switch can, and that your machine is not one of the affected models of the early switch, which means that they would charge for the repair work. You can go to www.hoover.com and check the serial number to see if your's is one of the defective ones. Other wise, you can buy a switch and install it yourself or have a repair shop do it.
Flip it over and take the 4 screws out of the silver plate covering the bottom. The belt is probably off and needs to be attached.

Brush Roll belt stops turning durring vacuuming on WindTunnel self-propelled, v belt is a little loose with handle down. Tensioning roll is engaged OK, but fully at the end of its travel. Replaced belts flat and v, but still stops turning even on high carpet setting when vacuuming. Carpet setting and height adjustment appears to be working OK, roll is clean and turns easily when out. Also turns easily until it engages the carpet. Self propel function works just fine.

Belts breaking/melting The original belt broke at almost 1 year so I replaced it. I changed the carpet setting to shag even though my carpet is very low pile to make it easier on the vacuum. I have a Dyson all-floor model (not the ball). I recently replaced my carpet to a Frieze. Since replacing the carpet, the Dyson is extremely hard to push. It almost forms a "seal" with the carpet. Seems to work fine on Berber carpet and laminate floor. My husband has checked to make sure the brushes are working, hoses are not clogged and belts are OK. I've had it for about a year. It is virutally impossible to push on the new carpet. Any ideas?

My Kirby Heritage II vacuum is not picking up dirt up out of the carpet like usual, and I have to keep setting it lower to pick anything up. I finally get it to such a low setting that it starts sucking the carpet up and makes a whirring noise, and starts smelling. Every time this happens, we find the belt has been burned. I want to brush the pile up on my carpet do I need a special attachment to do this??. I have shampood it and it still seems a bit flat. When I shampood no water/foam filled up in the front tray???I am sure I had attached everything correctly. The only thing I can think of is when I attach the brush and tray to the front of the machine, do I turn the handle back to the right way up, or do I leave it upside down, this is the one that picks up the belt.

My Dyson DC 14 is making the horrible "ratcheting"sound only when the brush is engaged on the carpet setting. I have cleaned the brush, so there are no obstructions, the canister is empty and properly on the unit.
