I have a Kirby Dual Sanitronic '50' Vacuum Cleaner I bought in 1966. The motor does not start when I attach the belt lifter of the rug nozzle. When I remove the rug nozzle and detach the belt from the motor fan shaft the motor starts when I depress the nozzle switch and the power switch . Seems like the brushes in the motor are worn out. I do not have a manual for this unit. Can you assist me as to what newer unit is this compatible to and the problem I'm having at present??

Kirby G3 made loud noise when running. Sprayed silicon in fan thinking it might be a bearing. Found a coin and nail in fan and removed. Tha vacuum would not turn on. Replaced switch and brushes. Still nothing. Did the silicon spray do something?

No - the silicon is an insulating material and would have no effect on the electrics of the vacuum. Most likely you have a bad connection - dismantle the vacuum again and check the wiring and the motor with an ohmmeter. Be very attentive with the bru ... Kirby Generation 3 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Kirby Vacuum Hi Bruce, In my opinion, yes the Kirby would be worth it, as long as you are not replacing the motor. The switch would be the most expensive part besides the motor that would need to be replaced. The switch costs USD 49.99, the cord is roughly $39.99, and the carbon brushes are $29.99. I can easily walk you through any of these repairs should you need help. Kirby's are great vacuum cleaners, that usually last 30+ years. Brand new these machines sell in the US for $1600 or more,

I am replacing a foot pedal on an upright Sharp vacuum cleaner-EC-TU2607. I have the broken foot pedal removed from vacuum cleaner proper but it is the removal of the broken pedal from its spring load that has me puzzled. I applied some pulling effort on the pin that holds the spring in place but there doesn't seem to be any give. Is that the correct approach or is there something else that one should be doing first to release some of the resistance by the pin or spring? Thanks!
