Having problems with your Vacuums ?

I also have a Hoover upright and I need to replace the electrical cord. I have dimantled the back, where the tools are stored, and the hose. I still cannot find the screws or whatever, to get to the area behind the cord, so I can replace it. I think I will have to take off the bottom too. Has anyone out there tried to do this? It seems crazy. This machine works great so I hope I can also put it back together. Thanks for the help.

Since I do not know your specific model I can only supply you with general instructions. Be aware that most of the time you only need to gain access to the on/off switch to replace the power cord. Also Make sure that you are replacing the existing cord with a comparable one. Vacuum cleaner cords are different from most other types. They need to with stand being run over repeatedly and subjected to a spinning brush that would burn through other types in a matter of seconds.
If you keep that in mind then......

One of the most important rules in the universe is "If it was put together it can be taken apart". I take my vacuum apart just for fun. I will use as an example the most common type of vacuum, an upright bagless. You will need to remove the lower unit. You will find after the top section has been removed four screws, (two on each side), holding the upper section to the lower with two plastic half circles clamps. In most newer vacuums of this type these are the only things holding the two pieces together aside from the hose. The motor housing is usually held together by several screws. Once you get the upper and lower sections separated you will be able to gain access to the screws.
Probably the most important thing I can tell you is to keep track of the screws. Use a piece of styrofoam draw a shape of a vacuum on it and press the screws into it in the area that they came out.
If you need more specific instructions you will have to clarify this with the exact make and model.
Hope this helps.

Cord replacement I need to replace a damaged cord (the reel works). How do I get the top off so I can remove the back end? Once I get it off, will I be able to change the cord, or do I need to buy the whole reel assembly? (and thanks for the help - I love this site!)

You will probably have to replace the whole reel cord. Depending on your model, on each side, there is a bar in the middle that will slide off, then the 2 halfs will come apart. They will only slide in one direction. If an older model, there are s ... Electrolux Lux 5500 Canister Vacuum

I've lost my cord for my West Bend vintage Flavo-matic 8-cup 3280E percolator coffee maker. It does not take the standard 1/2" wide cord replacements which I've tried. The prongs look more like they're 3/4" wide. Would anyone be able to recommend an online store that may have this dimension of cord (and will ship to Canada)?

I want to open a Hoover S3825 Elite Cyclonic Vacuum to see if I can repair or replace the cord reel assembly. Currently the reel slowly draws the cord back into the canister once it is pulled out. I found the mounting screws under the rear wheels once I removed the hub but I do not know how to remove the rear wheels, everything is plastic. The front screws are under the front caster wheels and I think I need to take a screwdriver and pry off the little cylinder wheel to get to them by rotating

I'm using (or WAS using) a Eureka ''the boss'' model 8803. The belt broke, no biggie, so I replaced it with a Eureka model U belt, the problem is when I put the new belt on and turn on the vaccuum, the belt breaks again. I am also having trouble getting the brush roller to fit right when the belt is in place. I can't find any sharp edges that would cut the belt, nor can I find where any small bits may have broken. Anyone have a solution for me?

First, make sure you have the right belt, second, i am thinking that you are not lineing the roller up right, it will only fit one way. look at the ends of the roller and the grooves where it slides in, you should be able to see clearly how it goes. ... Vacuums

Have a Centralux Aerus about 5 years old. Don't see a model number. There is suction but beater brush quit working. Was using for a few minutes, shut it off for a few minutes, turned it back on and suction only. Tried the reset button also. Tried the sidekick attachment and it works fine. There was no smell like something was hot. Belt is fine. Are there any fuses or anything else to try?
