Vacuumed water - won't work

\015 Vacuumed water up on carpet - burning smell - now won't work- took apart to "dry out" ... cut it back on... ran for a minute or so... burn smell, then shut off?!? Can this be repaired?\015

Answers :

It sounds like the motor overload is cutting out.
it should automatically reset in time.

  • try removing the motor from the vacuum.
\015\012
    \015\012
  • jump the motor. (power directly to the motor leads) be careful doing this! because once you plug it the motor will jump...keep your fingers from moving parts.
\015\012
    \015\012
  • With the motor running, you will want to inspect the commutator -(where the carbon brushes push against)
\015\012
    \015\012
  • if a blue spark is large and wrapping around the commutator then you will need to replace the brushes to begin with...in worse cases the armatures commutator would have to be cleaned with emery paper.... or armature should be replace. i think vacuum motors sell as a assembly...depending on what type of vacuum you have it might be better just buying a new one.

I have a Craftsman wet dry vac with blower capability (22 L). While I was using it to **** up water, the water came out of the blower hose. Now I can't get it to work as a vacuum. What can I do to fix this problem? Is there a toggle switch somewhere that allows me to choose vacuum or blower? Also, will the vacuum still work without the filter nut attached to the plate? Please let me know at your earliest convenience. Thank you.

The problem we are having is when water/soap is initially released (all settings) it continues to leak out the front water spray nozzles unit the water containers are empty. The vacuum works but can't keep up with the continuous water leaking out. Do you have any idea what is sticking open to allow the continued release of water when the machine is running? Thanks Rick

Rainbow SE I turned the vacuum on and it worked to do one room Then I shut it off to wait until my husband got of his call. I realized that their was cloggage in the vacuum part that vacuums the carpet and unclogged it. I then tried to turn on and it was dead. I have the water filled just above the stick.

The clog may have over heated the motor, usually if you unplug it then after little while, try it again. If it still won't go, does the separator turn easily or is it bound up and won't turn. Take it off and see if the motor will run(without water) ... Rainbow E series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum

I have a Eureka Upright vacuum (4800 Series). When I try to start it by turning the switch on, it wont. For few days, I was able to get around this problem by repeatedly turning the switch on and off until it turned on but that does not work any more.
