My Fantom Thunder upright has a blockage that sounds like it is directly above the dirt bin in the "head". I cannot access it from inside the bin chamber by going up the nozzle with a claw parts retriever. (This is the older model where the cyclone nozzle doesn't come off.) The wand, hose, rear inspection port, and front brush intake are all clear. How do I get the top of the vac off above the dirt bin? I don't see any screws or slots.

The brushes spin very, very slowly and stop altogether sometimes - like they just don't have any power behind them.I've cleaned the brushes and also turned it on without the brushes inside to see if the female plug that the brushes go into turns - it does, but not very fast. My husband said he thought he smelled something - like burning. Is there a way to take the underside cover off and clean something?

My husband sucked up part of a rug. The belt didn't shut off like I thought it was supposed to. Now there is a funny loud hum when the brush is running. There are also some fuzzy disc-like things around the brush that look like they're unraveling. Thoughts???

See if you can take the brush assembly off. There should be a plate and 2 screws. One on each side. You can lift out the brush and get all of the strings and such off of the roller brush. You might have to go a little deeper with it open and see if a ... Kenmore 23612 Progressive PowerMate Bagged Canister Vacuum

When I vacuum w/ the brush control in the on position it make a really loud noise, almost like a grinding sound. I have looked at it and nothing seems to be wrong, but I notice that the pin that engages the belt seems to vibrate a bit, possibly creating the noise. It started when I accidentally got part of a plastic grocery bag caught in the brush. Could it have stretched a belt? Nothing is caught any other place and it only makes the noise when the brush in in the on position.

Yes, the belt could have been stretched and is now vibrating and hitting other parts and creating a noise if much of the bag got caught under the belt. Replaces the belt on dirt devil dynamite pluse model put everything back together started it and it burt the new belt up that fast. I put it around the beater brush and the metal bar I thought it should go around, yet it seemed like there should be something else there to put the belt on. What do you suggest? Do you have picture I could go by?

The metal bar you put it around if the bar itself does not spin it is going to burn the belt up. Every thing that the belt is supposed to go around has to turn or the belt will rub on the piece not moving and brake. ... Vacuums

Hi, I have a cleanview bagless model# 3576-2 and my belt keeps breaking (it seems like one of the rings it should wrap around is missing) right now I have been wrapping it around the brush and a metal rod. I took the cover off the brush so I could cut off all the hair that was wrapped around it (vacuum was working fine, I just noticed the hair). My Kirby Heritage II vacuum is not picking up dirt up out of the carpet like usual, and I have to keep setting it lower to pick anything up. I finally get it to such a low setting that it starts sucking the carpet up and makes a whirring noise, and starts smelling. Every time this happens, we find the belt has been burned. We are wondering if the brush roll inside with the brushes that pick up dirt are worn out and too short?

Hoover Vacuum My Hoover cannister model s3614 "runabout powermax" suddenly lost power to the agitator roller in the rug brush. Where the wire cord enters the power brush, the covering has rubbed off exposing the wires which are not bare but still have their own covering. For a while the power came and went as I manipulated the wires but finally died. Is this something I can fix myself or is it going to be an expensive professional repair? (Warrantee has elapsed.) Hi There I have got a Kirby 2 HG vaccum cleaner which is around 20 years old now. It was going really well until last week when one of the capacitors which are connected to the brushes blew up. There is two capacitors one for each brush. One of them completely blew to bits and the other one is still intact. My question is are they the same size and where do I get a new one from. I know it is an old machine, but I would like to fix it and get it going again. Any tips???

Have Electrolux 1590 whole house vac, and can't see how to get brushes out. Leads so short, and don't want to break them trying to free brushes. Do they slide out of plastic housing? It also looks like the plastic housing may be a snap lock type, but I don't see how to open it.

Our Bissell Cleanview II 3576M does a great job except that the filter cup below the dirt cup gets full very fast and the dirt cup barely has anything in it. To clean the whole house, I have to empty the dirt cup and clean the filter several times. It didn't use to work this way. It seems like something is missing, a gasket or seal maybe? My Bissell Model 3760-4 is not working properly. The belt has been replaced (and checked 3 times), but the brush bar does not move when the brush motor button is on. The little metal turning piece that turns the belt is turnable with one's finger when the belt is off, but when we put it all back together and turn on the vacuum, the brush bar does not go around and the burning belt smell returns.
