Hoover Upright Bagless WindTunnel does not self propel (U6625-900). Belts are new, Brush turns strongly. Wheels propel forward very weakly and do not reverse when the handle is pulled backward. Is there a mechanical link from the self propel switch to the "transmission" ? Are there any gears that could be worn or not engaging properly?

Just replaced the belts on my Hoover Windtunnel II self-propelled vacuum. The brushes are now turning ok, but the self propelled feature is not working. Squeals when when you lock it in the upright position.

Check the plastic part, which the the self propelled cable is attached to. (release the handle, tilt it back. You should be able to see the cable attached by a screw to a black plastic arm.) It is either broken or the cable is lose. ... Hoover U6630-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum

Brush Roll belt stops turning durring vacuuming on WindTunnel self-propelled, v belt is a little loose with handle down. Tensioning roll is engaged OK, but fully at the end of its travel. Replaced belts flat and v, but still stops turning even on high carpet setting when vacuuming. Carpet setting and height adjustment appears to be working OK, roll is clean and turns easily when out. Also turns easily until it engages the carpet. Self propel function works just fine.

I have a Hoover Windtunnel U 6439-900. The agitator brush will not turn. I installed 2 new belts, # 38528034, and # 38528-035 There is so much slack in belt # 3852034 (brush drive) that it cannot grip the brush. There does not seem to be any adjustment to take up the slack. I've put in new belts twice now & cannot get brush to rotate or tighten the belt to the brush.

Hoover WindTunnel S3765. The motor spins and the belt turns when I turn the brushes on, and the brushes will spin. The problem is that when I do this on carpet, the brushes stop spinning. As soon as I pull the "head" off the carpet, the brushes spin again. It's almost as if the vacuum suction is too great. I took the head apart and watched the motor turn the metal spindle that the belt rests on, and the belt turns as well.

Bad smell after using my windtunnel for a couple of minutes i noticed an odd smell. i turned it over and checked, the belts are fine but i cleaned out the hair anyway. after doing that the self propel seems to struggle and it is hard to push. when i look through the window on the top i can see the brush spinning freely but then when i push it, it slows down dramatically and then picks up again. the suction is fine. what do you recommend?

It may be the roller bearings? ... Hoover U5450-900 Windtunnel Supreme Bagged Upright Vacuum

Hoover Windtunnel U5750-900 Agitator brush is weak. It turns fine if I tilt the vacuum back, but it slows to almost 1/4 speed when it touches carpet, even on the highest carpet setting. I've replaced the agitator belt twice. The brush used to turn powerfully even on the lowest (Hard Floor) setting. Ideas? I should probably lube the agitator brush ball bearings, and re-check the belt, but, other than that, I'm stumped.
