How do you replace belt on kirby g series? - Vacuums

Answers :

Hi,

1)First, you turn the square belt lifter on the front of the power nozzle until the red arrows line up (belt off) \015\012
2)Remove the power head from the front of the machine. Now turn\015\012the belt lifter the other way and line the green arrows up again. This\015\012releases the tension on the belt\015\012
3)Turn it upside down and release the two clips that hold the metal baseplate on and remove the baseplate. \015\012
4)Grab the brushroll and pull it out of the power head. Slide\015\012the new belt onto the center of the brushroll. It will hang loose...it\015\012doesn't have to stretch around anything yet. MAKE SURE THAT THE\015\012BRUSHROLL SPINS FREELY!! If it doesn't, you'll burn all new belts quickly due to the added strain on the belt. \015\012
5)Look at the ends of the brushroll. The brushroll has three\015\012height settings...you should see notches AND NUMBERS on the sides of\015\012the brushroll's end caps. ONE notch (also #1) FACE UP on BOTH sides is\015\012the first setting and should be used when the roller is new. Three\015\012notches is the last setting used before a new roller is needed and\015\012should be used if the brushes are short and worn. Put the brushroll\015\012back in, making ABSOLUTELY SURE sure that the SAME NUMBER of notches\015\012and the same raised number on the edge are FACE UP on BOTH sides. This\015\012is important, as the brushroller will be unbalanced if inserted wrong.
6)Replace the baseplate by fitting the front clips into place\015\012and then push it down in back and secure it with the two rear swivel\015\012clips. Make sure it fits securely down over the bumper on all sides\015\012with no suction leakage.
7)Put the belt directly in the center of the brushroller. Look\015\012into the hole in the back of the nozzle and turn the belt lifter slowly\015\012to until the RED arrows align, making sure that the inner "hook" grabs\015\012the belt and stretches it up to it's fullest height while you are\015\012turning it. Once you have the belt stretched all the way up, the RED\015\012arrows on the belt lifter will be aligned perfectly with each other.\015\012You should be able to see the stretched belt when you look into the\015\012hole in the rear of the power nozzle. Put the power nozzle onto the\015\012Kirby and lock it in place.
8)NOW...turn the belt lifter back to GREEN. If the little\015\012green light on the power nozzle lights up when you turn it on,\015\012CONGRATULATIONS!!! The brushroll is spinning!!

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
