I did put a new belt on and I always clean my roller. I also replaced the self-propelled belt also just to make sure.
I don't know what brand of vacuum you have, but the belts on most vacuums should be changed approx. once a year. The belt can look fine, but is stretched and won't have the necessary tension to turn the roller. It is possible that the roller is in need of servicing. If the bearings in the roller are fouled with dirt and hair, they will not turn properly and a new belt will not solve your problem. Take the roller out of the machine and turn the end caps by hand. They should turn freely. Once you've determined that the roller is o.k., install a new belt, turn the roller by hand to make sure that nothing is jammed and then try the machine again.

You do not by a belt by size, buy it by model only. A new Hoover belt will generally be very snug when installed. As heat builds from use it stretches and becomes worn sometimes as much as 30% oversize. Good that you have cleaned out the hair. Check ... Hoover Mach 6 U5198-900 vacuum roller brush won't turn. I had opened the bottom to clean hair off the roller. the belts are not broken. When I closed it and turned it on, now the roller brush won't turn. I can push and turn it by hand, but not easily. Then I noticed the brush on/off switch is turned off, but when I step on it, it won't turn on. I was thinking I let something get out of place when I opened the bottom, but can't see what.

I have a Miele S1721 Powerhouse upright vacuum. When the belt broke I took it into the shop (because when i tried to replace the belt, the tension was so tight I couldn't get it back together!!). When I got it home I DISCOVERED THAT THE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT DIDN'T WORK anymore. It seems like it's set really hight, because it no longer contacts and brushes the carpet. So it's now useless. I went back to the shop and the tech denied that there was anything wrong. (I didn't have the vac with me). No

Hoover Wind Tunnel 7500 Brush not Turning. I have replaced the Brush and the belt. The problem does not seem to be either to me. I believe might be a missing part. The place were the belt hooks on is a metal pole which never seems to grip the belt well. In fact it seems loose most of the time and slips on the brush, causing the belt to eventually burn up. Could there be a missing plastic or rubber piece meant to hold the belt taught  on the metal pole?

I have an Easy-Flo central vac unit. The handle on the electric hose has a switch on the handle. With the switch on ''O'' in the center, it's off. On the left, is the ''I'' position. The vacuum runs but the power brush doesn't. On the right is the ''II'' position. The switch won't flip that way. It feels stuck. It feels as if there is something underneath of it that won't let it push that direction. I have the switch out of the handle, but I can't seem to get the actual black casing around the

Switches are not usually designed to be dissembled.I would strongly suggest that you dont take the switch apart. you are better off getting a new one. then if you feel like it you can take the old switch apart and if it dosnt work you still hav ... Vacuums
