Having problems with your Vacuums ?

Vorwerk VK121 vacuum cleaner - smell of burning from housing enclosing motor. How do I get into the housing to inspect the motor? After tilting the bag sideways, there are two screws holding the housing visible, but there seems to be a thrid fixing inside the point where the handle shaft is attached - is the handle simply clipped in place? Thanks

Answers :

Yes the handle is clipped in place and should come out when the button in front is pushed. Remove the screws you wrote about. After that the puzzle begins. At the bottom of the vacuum where the head is attached, remove the head by pressing the button. This same button now needs to be pressed all the way through while pulling on the top of the motor base. The outer shell will slide off while the motor stays attached to the part where the bag is attached. After this the entire motor is revealed and the brushes can easily be replaced. Hope this helps. I have a Wertheim 4808 Barrel vacuum cleaner that has suddenly stopped working. I believe that there is a problem with the electrical cord connection inside. I have tried unsuccessfully to open the compartment that leads to that area. One side unscrewed with a phillips head screwdriver but the other side seems to have a different type of fixing screw that I am unable to undo. It is awkward to get at and in a deep slot and the head of the fixing screw? is not visible.

The motor just went out on my 2 year old vacuum with light usage (hardwood floors in a very small house.) The Sears repairpeople are estimating ~ $130 to fix (this includes parts & labor). I'm wondering if it's worth investing $130 into something i've spent $350 on only 2 years ago. Shouldn't these machines last longer ? Is there something I could do to get them repair free as it seems the motor must have been faulty to only have lasted 2 years. Thoughts ?

Hi guys, I have a bissell 9400 2x proheat with a fault. When you turn on the machine it trips the RCD in my house and makes a poping noise, i am a little technical so i had a look inside. The pcb under the handle was damaged with burn marks i unpluged this and tried again and the machine powered up, don't think the rollers moved though. What do i need to change roller motor, pcb?? Help please!! Regards Russ

I've seen the same problem in one of these we had in for repair. The pcb in the handle is involved with controlling the roller motor. The problem is with the motor. In my view, this machine is a triumph of design over practicality... The motor is loc ... Vacuums

Samsung Quiet Storm Canister Vacuum VAC-9049 The motor will not run. Power is on to the motorized rug tool. How can I remove the upper housing to get access to the motor? I have removed the six visible screws, but the housing is restrained at the rear. I suspect there are additional screws under the power switch and cord retractor assembly, but I cannot remove that either. HELP!

My Kirby 2HD has started making an odd roaring noise but still works fine. I have taken the front assembly off and cleaned and adjusted the roller and checked the belt. The noise seems to come from the motor housing. I have tried to wiggle the main shaft at the front (bearings?) and it seems tight. Can't seem to get the other housings apart. Any ideas? Thanks, John

It is quite possible, it just needs lubed. The motor comes in direct contact with dirt so, you have to make sure the front bearing has a drop of oil on it from time to time. If it starts to scream at you within one month, after oiling, the bearing ... Kirby Heritage II Vacuum

Very simply you dont take the fan out of the motor. it was not made to be removed or cleaned because its not supposed o get dirty if your using good bags in the vacuum. the best you can do is blow it out with an air hose. ... Electrolux Epic 6500 Vacuum

Replacement parts... I've got a 3594 Bissell and the belt has come completely off. In the process of breaking, it bent the metal guide inside the motor housing and melted the plastic that holds the guide and keeps the belt inline with the roller. I've got it running again by using a screw I filed all the threads off of, but it only works for 10 minutes at a time before breaking another belt. This process is getting expensive, as it usually takes 30 minutes to completely vacuum the house. Is ther

How to disassemble the brush to empty anything that might be stuck inside of the brush? The motor seems to be overheating, all belts have been checked, all airways are clear and the filter is clean. The vacuum is vibrating and releasing a burning smell, but still sucking up dirt. There is nothing stuck on the outside of the brush, but is there a way to check inside of it to see if that is where a clog is occuring?

If there's a burning smell and the belts are fine, the problem is going to be hot wires causing the insulation to melt, or the motor going bad. Discontinue use and have it checked at a repair shop. ... Bissell 6594 PowerForce Bagless Upright Vacuum
