Having problems with your Vacuums ?

I have a GEelectric percolator from about 1955. It looks like a pot belly stove, or an egg standing upright! It works fine, except the little red light that normally comes on when the brewing is completed no longer lights. I assume it is the bulb......but how do I get to it? It is located near the coffee brew setting mild-to-strong sliding lever.

Answers :

Hello Theodore.
I also use a coffee pot similar to yours. Makes a great pot of coffee.
While I have never had to replace mine I have had these type apart years ago.
It probably has a 120V neon style bulb soldered into the circuit mounted behind the lens.
The bulb needs to be soldered in the the heater circuit so it comes on when the heat element is turned on.
Not sure where a person could find such a bulb anymore.
My GE pot has 4 screws on the bottom to separate it from the main body. I suspect that these would need to be removed to access it.
Perhaps yours is similar.
I hope this helps you repair it.
Thank you for using FixYa.

How do I remove and clean the grinder on my Saeco v'spresso? It grinds and grinds then says the coffee beans are empty when they're not. If I finally get it to finish its cycle no coffee comes out and all the water goes into the overflow tray and/or the grounds container. I am assuming the grinder is completely plugged up and I tried to clear it out from the chute underneath but no luck...

Almost seems this time when I change the outlet it is plugged into it works. But then shuts off quicker than it was doing before. I'm getting very frustrated.

I have a Polti Vaporetto household steam cleaner that I bought 16 years ago. The shop where I bought it no longer sells them and can't get them fixed anymore. I'm about to ditch it, but thought I would have another go at using it. (It was very expensive). Vorwerk ET 340 - been great but now noticing strong burning smell after vacuuming some hair from the bathroom. Bag is nearly empty. Gave it a rest then unscrewed the cover housing the motor and all looks clean (dust is sucked up the pipe and doesn't appear to get near the motor). When I restarted it, burning smell still there. Are there any filters that might need changing? What could be causing the smell? Could the hair have gotten caught somewhere? Thanks.

Hi There I have got a Kirby 2 HG vaccum cleaner which is around 20 years old now. It was going really well until last week when one of the capacitors which are connected to the brushes blew up. There is two capacitors one for each brush. One of them completely blew to bits and the other one is still intact. My question is are they the same size and where do I get a new one from. I know it is an old machine, but I would like to fix it and get it going again. Any tips???
