Having problems with your Vacuums ?

Kenmore Progressive canister

\015 The roller does not turn. The motor still runs alright.\015

Answers :

You are right, there is no belt on this model. First check where the hose plugs into the bottom, on some of these models there is a switch that turns off the brush roll when the hose is not there. There is an actuator that when you insert the hose, it pushes against the switch turning on the brush motor. It may be broken. There are also other switches and a circuit breaker. The top cover will have to come off to check the other switches and motor, wich is partr of the brush roll. If you go to sears.com, click on the parts link, put in you model number, the next page will give you options to click on and then you can see a parts list and a picture breakdown of the different sections of your vacuum.

\015\012Hello,
\015\012I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
\015\012It sounds to me that you have a broken belt or a bad brushroll and either one should be replaced. If the belt is a flat belt, then the belt change is every 4 to 6 months and the extra belt stored in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator. If it is a geared belt then you would change it every year or so depending on wear and how much it stretched. Also the brushroll should spin freely and check for no thread or hair buildup on the ends and on the brushroll itself.
\015\012So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I had the vacuum cleaner question about the canister and the wand/powerhead... the Kenmore Progressive Vacuum canister model 116.25812 and the canister not powering off without unplugging the vacuum. The solution I received that they both run on their own switch so it is normal makes sense. However, is there a power switch on the canister anywhere? The only way for the canister to be turned off is by unplugging it. Any ideas? One would think there would be a switch. I am new to fixya and hope

Kenmore 21875 One day it's working fine. Next day, it won't turn on. When I attach the hose to another vacuum cleaner, it runs. Is there a reset button on the canister? Could it be the receptacle is bad? My Kenmore Progressive won't turn on today either -but was fine last week. I cleaned the filters checked for blocked air, tried a different outlet and no luck. I'll check the pins on the connections and see if one of them is not matching up or appears worn.
