Having problems with your Vacuums ?

The stitches on bottom side are loopy. Do I change the tension by moving spool to higher or lower number on dial?

Answers :

Have you run a length of stitching with different color threads for the upper thread and the lower? Since the upper tension appears to be too loose, turn the tension knob to the right by 1/2 a number. This is a lower number (on my machine); so you'd go from 5 to 4.5. (It works just like most plumbing; turn right to tighten and left to loosen.) Then run another run of test stitching.

You may also need to check the lower tension but only as a last resort. There is a set screw that adjusts this; turn to the left to loosen and right to tighten (1/8 of a turn at a time). On one of the machines I have used, the bobbin case is easy to remove. For that machine, the test is to put the bobbin in the bobbin case and check what happens when you dangle the bobbin case by holding the thread. The thread should move when pulled but shouldn't pull more thread out of the bobbin when the bobbin case is dangling.

My sewing machine manual explains this adequately. However, I found better pictures in a volume called the Singer Sewing Book. Similar pictures are available here: http://www.ca.uky.edu/HES/fcs/FACTSHTS/CT-MMB-213.pdf . This is from an Extension Service site.

I hope this helps.

Replacing filter Got a Filter Queen Majestic vacuum from my inlaws when they moved overseas. I am in middle of vacuuming, got a weird noise, so opted to check and clean the filter for first time. UGH. The lower 'pot' that's the bottom part of the thing was full of gunk, but the filter pristine clean against the cone that's attached to the upper part of the unit. In other words, I am shocked to see that the dirt goes not INTO the filter, but outside of it into the bottom portion (that I call the

No vacuum My Floormate has plenty of air moving, but no vacuum at the nozzle. When I turn it on, the filter hops up to the black rubber "intake", rather than staying in its spot. It seems to me that the intake should be in contact with the filter when the reservoir is installed. And I don't understand why the intake isn't closer to it, but it seems fixed there, almost an inch higher than the filter. When I remove the bottom reservoir and turn the h3000 on, I feel vacuum at the intake, and air

The last time I sewed with my Necchi the tension was fine. Today when I threaded my needle, the thread felt tight in the upper tension dial. I tried re-threading the machine several times, but it didn't help. Now the parts of the tension dial are all loose and wobbbly and I have no upper tension. Doesn't matter what the dial is set on. The tension dial appears to be broken, but I don't know how that could have happend since I store it in a case.

Chain tensioner Is it possible to change the chain tensioner of the Husqvarna 240 to a tool less chain tensioner or at least to the chain tensioner where the adjustment screw is accessed from the side not from the front. The problem is that there is a little plastic part that breaks rendering the chain tensioner useless. I have changed it twice and it keeps breaking. To change it you have to change the whole part that covers the break and chain mechanism.
