\015\012Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. the Kirby you have is an older Kirby with a removable head or you call it a bell housing so you need to dial off the belt counter clockwise and the release the front lever on the bell housing, and then release the bottom plate and remove one end of the brushroll and then slide the belt off of the brushroll. B4 you put the new belt on the Kirby check to see if the brushroll spins freely, also to see if the brushroll is free from the thread and hair buildup, if that is free – then slide the new belt onto the brushroll and the re-insert the brushroll with the screw head on each side facing the carpet and lock down the bottom plate, then use the Kirby spoon/ hook to dial the belt on to the fan pulley and dial the spoon/hook clockwise until the belt is on the fan pulley and the place the bell housing on the Kirby and then lock down the lever so that it is hooked up and ready to go, plug it in and turn it on. The belt on my vacuum cleaner model 6596 bissel powerforce bagless turbo keeps breaking. As soon as I put on a new belt and start it up the belt snaps. It is the durabelt meant for this vacuum model. Also, my son has been having the same problem with his. He has the same model and same belt. This problem is occurring even after a thourough cleaning.

I would guess you aren't centering the belt correctly, thus it's edge is caught between the brush and another solid object, causing the breakage.\015\012When you get the belt on the the brush and the brush back in place, turn the brush a few ti ... Bissell 6596 Bagless Upright Vacuum

I'm using (or WAS using) a Eureka ''the boss'' model 8803. The belt broke, no biggie, so I replaced it with a Eureka model U belt, the problem is when I put the new belt on and turn on the vaccuum, the belt breaks again. I am also having trouble getting the brush roller to fit right when the belt is in place. I can't find any sharp edges that would cut the belt, nor can I find where any small bits may have broken. Anyone have a solution for me?

First, make sure you have the right belt, second, i am thinking that you are not lineing the roller up right, it will only fit one way. look at the ends of the roller and the grooves where it slides in, you should be able to see clearly how it goes. ... Vacuums

Replaces the belt on dirt devil dynamite pluse model put everything back together started it and it burt the new belt up that fast. I put it around the beater brush and the metal bar I thought it should go around, yet it seemed like there should be something else there to put the belt on. What do you suggest? Do you have picture I could go by?

The metal bar you put it around if the bar itself does not spin it is going to burn the belt up. Every thing that the belt is supposed to go around has to turn or the belt will rub on the piece not moving and brake. ... Vacuums

My Bissell Model 3760-4 is not working properly. The belt has been replaced (and checked 3 times), but the brush bar does not move when the brush motor button is on. The little metal turning piece that turns the belt is turnable with one's finger when the belt is off, but when we put it all back together and turn on the vacuum, the brush bar does not go around and the burning belt smell returns. The portable part of the machine works properly. It's the brush bar. It has been cleared of hair, etc

We have a Hoover upright vacuum cleaner, model Core 7. There is a switch that turns on and off the brush drive. This operates via a cam with a bearing putting pressure on the final drive belt to engage the brush head. My brush head is not turning and with the lever set to engage the drive there is still considerable slack in the final drive belt. There appears to be only a bearing deflecting the belt, should there be a pully or other device mounted on this bearing? There is so much slack a

I have a self propelled Royal Dirt Devil vacuum model number 087900 and it goes backward fine but forward has to be pushed so hard it's impossible. Is this a switch? Do you know about how much the part would cost and can it be done by a beginner. We fix a lot of things ourselves but we aren't mechanics by no means. We put a brand new belt on it. I don't think it can be put on backwards and brush turns fine. Where is the switch? Use layman's terms.

You might try a new belt and/or brush roll. The brush roll is what helps pull a vacuum forward, the power drive helps, but if the brush isn't turning like it should, then it will hinder forward motion. The belt may look ok, but they stretch to the ... Vacuums
