Should I replace my vacuum cleaner?
\015 I need to replace my old Hoover upright that has a Y bag because it just doesn't pick up the way it should. No doubt, I have had it for years! However, the new ones are SO expensive and I can't believe equal in value or quality (most of my "new" top end appliances seem to be mostly plastic and cheap metal with poor manufacturing). I have a fairly big house with very little traction in the USA south. I don't want dust mites or bugs or significant allergens lurking about. The online reviews are totally confusing and seem pretty biased under the surface. Can anyone give me some good reliable scientific information on this, please?\015
I can tell you, having no affiliation with them what-so-ever, that Dyson vacuum cleaners are the way to go. They ARE plastic, yes, but they are designed so well. Every component was mathematically rendered out in a 3D model and computer simulation. The might seem sort of cheap at first glance, but use one and I assure you that you will actually laugh at yourself for ever doubting them. They run quiet for their power, and pickup an amazing amount of dirt. They truly never loose suction, since the dirt and debris never even reach the filter. I have had expensive Kirby vacuum cleaners, in-fact I still have one. Why, after getting my Dyson Animal, I have no idea. You can vacuum all day with the Kirby, then just when you think it is nice and clean, try the Dyson over top of what you already did. It will pull up an embarrassing amount of dirt and soil that you never knew was there. They ARE expensive, although nothing like the Kirby vacs cost. However, they are worth ever penny. I recommend the ball type canister one. It follows you around the house without effort, and the cleaning wand is light and powerful.

Kirby Vacuum Hi Bruce, In my opinion, yes the Kirby would be worth it, as long as you are not replacing the motor. The switch would be the most expensive part besides the motor that would need to be replaced. The switch costs USD 49.99, the cord is roughly $39.99, and the carbon brushes are $29.99. I can easily walk you through any of these repairs should you need help. Kirby's are great vacuum cleaners, that usually last 30+ years. Brand new these machines sell in the US for $1600 or more,

I am replacing a foot pedal on an upright Sharp vacuum cleaner-EC-TU2607. I have the broken foot pedal removed from vacuum cleaner proper but it is the removal of the broken pedal from its spring load that has me puzzled. I applied some pulling effort on the pin that holds the spring in place but there doesn't seem to be any give. Is that the correct approach or is there something else that one should be doing first to release some of the resistance by the pin or spring? Thanks!
