I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The belt is in good shape but your brushroll could be froze up or the bearings are shot in the ends of the brushroll or you may have a dirt, thread and hair buildup in the ends on both sides, or you may have to replace the brushroll depending on if it is a wood or metal brushroll. The best way to see if the brushroll is good is to stand it on end and spin it to see if it spins freely m if not try the things that I mentioned above or replace it. Also, the recommended belt change on any vacuum cleaner is every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning. My Dyson Animal has good suction and works fine for actually picking up dirt, but when I use the vacuum with the roller, I hear a grinding/rumbling noise. Its only when I use the vacuum with the brush rotating. It does not happen hen I shut the roller brush off. The belt is fine. I cannot figure out what is wrong as there are no clogs, debris, or foreign objects stuck in the brush or in the belt. The noise seems to be the only issue. The vacuum picks up fine. My Hoover Whisper Cyclonic is collecting the dirt but not taking it into the cylinder. Sounds like a clogged air path (no vacuum action) from the floor pick-up to the collection tank. Take the tanks off and deal with the vacuum problem alone. Poor Suction Heya! So I just picked up a used Dyson, but when I vacuum with it, the suction is pretty weak and it spits all kinds of stuff out the back and into my feet. My Bissell BS3920F upright (similar to the 10N6F) has been working wonderfully for the past 3 years but suddenly seems to not pick up dog hair as well as it used to.
