No power to head of Kenmore Progressive canister vac

\015 I have a Kenmore Progressive canister vac (model # 116.22812201). When I turn it on, it seems like it's sucking up from the head, but no lights come on and the brush doesn't roll. In other words, if I had hard wood floors, it would be great, but it doesn't do anything for the carpet. It seems like there's no power getting to the head although there is suction. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!\015\012\015\012I also have a canister with a non functioning carpet beater head. I have checked that there is electricity to the motor. I have disassembled the motor, the winding look like it is in good shape. I do not know if there is a problem with the reset button, however afer disassembling the switch it appears to be functional. Only other thing I have not tried is to bypass the reset switch. Could be a dead motor, however I am at a loss. Any thoughts?\015

I had the vacuum cleaner question about the canister and the wand/powerhead... the Kenmore Progressive Vacuum canister model 116.25812 and the canister not powering off without unplugging the vacuum. The solution I received that they both run on their own switch so it is normal makes sense. However, is there a power switch on the canister anywhere? The only way for the canister to be turned off is by unplugging it. Any ideas? One would think there would be a switch. I am new to fixya and hope

My old Kenmore did the same thing but I used it anyway...because the power was great. We don't have feet problems or pets. The carpeting was new when we bought this vacuum.
