Having problems with your Vacuums ?

Makes a clicking noise and stops after about 5 minutes

Answers :

Ladies and gents,

I can't bear you moaning like this honestly! Here is the solution-

get your self a tiny 4 headed (philips screw driver) and test your ROOMBA

1) REMOVE THE RUBBER BRUSH AND RUN ROOMBA ON JUST THE BIG BRUSH

2) CHECK IF ROOMBA STARTES CLICKING AND ODES THE SAME THING

3) IF NOT PUT THE RUBBER BRUSH BACK AND REMOVE THE BIG BRUSH AND THEN CHECK IF CLICKING CONTINUES.

4) ONE OF THEM WILL BE THE CULPRIT. REMOVE THAT BRUSH AND YOU WILL SEE TWO 4 HEADED(PHILLIPS) SCREWS ON EACH END OF THE OFFENDING BRUSH- LOOSEN THE SCREW AND YOU SHOULD SEE LOADS OF HAIR AND FIBER ROUND THE BEARING.

5)TAKE THE BEARING OUT AND REMOVE ALL THIS HAIR-YOU WILL BE SURPRISED HOW MUCH THERE IS

6) PUT THINGS BACK TOGETHER AND ROOMBA WILL RUN LIKE NEW

i PROMISE!
I have the Roomba 530, the white model, and my solution was to clean the gear box. Here's how I did that.

1: take off yellow spinny-brush
2: take off gray plastic undercarriage plate
3: unscrew 4 tiny phillips head screws that hold the whole brush carriage assembly. These screws can't fall out. Go ahead and remove the brushes.
4: unscrew a few (4 maybe?) more screws on the gear side of the brush assembly, on the side with the white square parts. Be careful, because these can fall out, and they are slightly longer than the following-
5: unscrew the screws holding the gear box closed. Once again, don't lose these screws. Mine was chock-full of fur, hair, dirt, general nastiness. I got out a sharp knife (careful!) and cleaned each gear and then both sides of the gearbox with the knife and a paper towel.
6: Put it all back together!

The whole process only took me ~15 minutes, but I had previous experience taking apart most of the roomba minus the gearbox. Good luck!
