MiCTA Service Corporation/ATAlliance Affiliation

In 1996, MiCTA Service Corporation (MSC) was founded specifically to provide administrative support for MiCTA and to help attend to the needs of the MiCTA membership. From 1982, until MSC was formed, all activities were performed by volunteers. MiCTA Service Corporation continues to serve MiCTA and the membership as an administrative and support organization.

In October 2001, MiCTA and the country's four regional Educational Compacts formed the American TelEdCommunications Alliance. The alliance is a nation wide collaborative designed to:

1. Build on MiCTA's work to expand current program offerings of the compacts to include technology offerings.

2. Collaborate on program development to meet the needs of members nationally as well as regionally within each compact.

3. Unify the procurement process when appropriate to leverage even deeper discounts.

4. Promote with one voice, education and national awareness for relevant issues relating to technology, and MiCTA/ATAlliance programs.

The other founding members of the ATAlliance are: the Midwestern Higher Education Commission (MHEC); the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE); the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB); and the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). MiCTA's president and the presidents of these four Regional Educational Compacts will serve as the ATAlliance Board. MiCTA Service Corporation will serve as program administrator for the ATAlliance.
