It starting to put out a hot type smell. I have tried cleaning the filters real well and even tried to see if there was problem with the ozone filter. We have checked and could not find a jam. I know the hose has excellent suction. The vacumn works but the intelliclean sensors will not. It only takes about 15 seconds or so for the odor to start. Then it gets real strong and it makes my eyes water

Hi,The hot smell could be from the belt or the motor. Turn it on for a moment, turn it off, then flip it on its side and smell the belt that drives the brush. If that is where the smell is coming from, then your belt is burning up. ... Kenmore Progressive Bagless Upright with Inteli-Clean SystemVacuum

Hoover U5344-950 My Hoover vacuum is a nightmare! I have had nothing but problems with it since day 1. The powerhead stops working if you try to lower the handle to vacuum. I took it in to be serviced and was told it sat on the shelf for too long in the store and it warped the belt...so it was replaced. Got it home, it worked the first time I tried it, then went right back to no powerhead working and as a bonus it is giving off a nasty smell like it is going to blow up! It now gets really hot to

Belts breaking/melting The original belt broke at almost 1 year so I replaced it. I changed the carpet setting to shag even though my carpet is very low pile to make it easier on the vacuum. I didn't get to use it but just a couple minutes and could already start smelling the new belt getting hot. I checked the roller and it is easy to spin. Not clogged with hair or dirt. Now the inside of the new belt has small pieces of rolled rubber instead of being smooth. The metal shaft that goes into the

Have a Centralux Aerus about 5 years old. Don't see a model number. There is suction but beater brush quit working. Was using for a few minutes, shut it off for a few minutes, turned it back on and suction only. Tried the reset button also. Tried the sidekick attachment and it works fine. There was no smell like something was hot. Belt is fine. Are there any fuses or anything else to try? This vacuum cleaner has not really been used that much, it is hard to believe the motor would need replaced

I've got a Kenmore canister vacuum, Progressive 236123, and there's a burning smell from the belt side of the head--smells a lot like hot rubber. I've cleaned the agitator and changed the belt, but I still get the smell. It's stronger when I'm using "carpet" mode than when I'm using "bare floor" mode. Any ideas what the problem is?

Dyson DC 14 hose has no suction, with or without brush attachments. Hot air shoots out from the base of the canister when I try to use the hose. I cleaned the top filter, but can't figure out how to remove the hepa filter to clean it without destroying the case. It looks like it might take three hands to insert pennies and "flip" the case open as is suggested on a youtube video for a different model. Would this even help, assuming I could get the thing open?

When I was using my Bissell ProHeat 7901, I smelled something hot (almost burnt) and turned off the vaccum. When I turned it back on, everything seemed to be working, but the vaccum part was not making the same sound. The bristles are still turning, but it isn't picking up as much and is leaving quite a bit of lint on the carpet. Could the belts be worn? How do I tell? Thanks!

My Kirby 2HD has started making an odd roaring noise but still works fine. I have taken the front assembly off and cleaned and adjusted the roller and checked the belt. The noise seems to come from the motor housing. I have tried to wiggle the main shaft at the front (bearings?) and it seems tight. Can't seem to get the other housings apart. Any ideas? Thanks, John

It is quite possible, it just needs lubed. The motor comes in direct contact with dirt so, you have to make sure the front bearing has a drop of oil on it from time to time. If it starts to scream at you within one month, after oiling, the bearing ... Kirby Heritage II Vacuum

I took the cover off the brush so I could cut off all the hair that was wrapped around it (vacuum was working fine, I just noticed the hair). I pulled the brush/spinner thing off one side, cleaned everything, popped it back in where it belonged, and tried to make sure the belt was in the proper alignment. However, when I turned the vacuum on, it makes a horrible noise like I'm sucking up rocks. What have I done wrong in putting it back together? It seemed simple...

The original belt on my upright Kenmore Progressive broke and I replaced it with the spare that was in the vacuum. The vacuum and spare belt are about 10 years old. Vorwerk ET 340 - been great but now noticing strong burning smell after vacuuming some hair from the bathroom. Bag is nearly empty. Generation 4 Apparently, my belt came off while vacumming. I had a lot of hari entwind on the roller, so cleaned off the hair.... but now I can't seem to get the belt to stay "in place". In my (almost new) Dyson DC31 Animal the rolling brush tends to stop like the bearing was kind of difficult to turn. I opened the side carter and removed the little belt. Without the belt the engine runs regularly. I cleaned the little knots of hairs trapped in the bearing but still the brush runs for a while then stops, tries for a bit then stops again. I even tryed putting a bit of synthetic lubricant with apparently no result. Could it be a defective bearing? Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem at first but figured it out. Make sure before you put it on the vacuum itself, that the shampooing unit is completely together. The belt needs to be taunt like it would be when the brush is turning. Once you put it on and turn ... Vacuums
