Having problems with your Bissell 6591 Power Trak Revolution Bagless Upright Vacuum ?

Motor seems like it is overworking. The sound of the vacuum is higher pitched than before.

Answers :

Hi!  Almost certainly your vacuum has a blockage somewhere. The higher pitch means the motor is running faster than normal, but it's not overworking, it's actually working less because it's moving less air.  Check for blockages and clear whatever you find (your user manual should tell you where and how to look), and that should be that!\015\012Alternatively, it may be that the drive belt to the brush roller has broken. Check that too.\015\012I hope this helps.  If not, please write again and I'll try again.

Hi. We have a Riccar N2100 vacuum cleaner, which has served us well for many, many years. I'd like to attempt a repair on this unit, and looking for advice and/or a parts diagram to proceed. The unit makes a groaning sound when shut off. The sound tapers off in pitch as the motor and beater bar come to a stop. The sound only happens when the vacuum cleaner is turned off in the normal upright position. The sound does not happen when the lower unit and main housing are both laying flat. I took

There seems to been a high pitched sound in the motor. I'd describe it as a 'dry' sound, and the high pitch of it is very loud. I want to stop vacuuming because it's so loud. Are there any oil/greasing points/spots? If so, how do I find them?

High pitched noise is not good. It may indicate that a bearing is going out. I would not use Kirby as it may lead to burned motor. If you feel that it vibrates quite a bit too - then it may be only broken fan blade.Fan blade - ... Kirby Generation 3 Bagged Upright Vacuum

My A 2045 Karcher vacuum's suction is really weak and the motor seems to be working VERY hard. The motor sounds like it used to when the vacuum fell over and went into overdrive! Now it's in overdrive all the time and the suction is minimal. Nothing is blocked and the filter is clean and dry. What do I need to do?

Stopped working Was working fine then it smelled like burning rubber, not the belt I checked. It sounds like the motor wants to run then it just stopped but the light is on. What do you think, go by a new one?? This has been a great vacuum cleaner and I can not seem to find a Sharp anywere. Thanks for your time.

Well it could be the motor, if it is it would cost around $80 or so for a motor. May be better to buy new, thre are a number of good brands out there. ... Sharp Twin Energy EC-12TWT4 Bagged Upright Vacuum

I bought a Kenmore canister vacuum, model 116, in April 2007. This morning, the sound of the motor suddenly began to deepen, and I began to lose suction. Normally, if something is clogging the hose, the motor will wind up to a higher pitch, not a lower one. The filters are clean, the bag is empty, and I can't detect anything lodged in the hose. If this were a car's engine, I would say it's "lugging down". Any pointers?

Okay, bear with me. Is it possible you have a suction adjustment, dial somewhere on vac. Check and see and if it does, be sure it's all the way up. Also, try removing hose and run a broom handle fr. one end to the other...BUT be careful not to stretc ... Vacuums

Lux legacy vacuum runs fine and was recently serviced - yesterday the tone of the motor on the vac started a higher sounding pitch - is this a potential problem and is there anything i can do with it - thank you

You don't mention whether it was the canister or upright model, but if it sounds differnet than what it usually does, then there is a potential problem. It could be anything from a full/clogged bag to a dirty filter to a clogged hose. You can check ... Electrolux Vacuums

I have an older Oreck XL vacuum that sounds like it is running twice as fast as it should. I disassembled the entire vacuum, including disconnecting the motor wires, to clean out the hair, string, and other things. When I put everything back and connected all the wires, everything appears to work, including the light. The only problem is, it sounds extremely loud like the motor is running too fast. The model number is: XL3610HH Ser. No. 3610HHXA039740-6 I do not have as electrical diagram to see

I have a Nutone CV-450. When the unit is turned on the motor makes a high pitched whining sound. The suction seems like it is reduced and there is a burning rubber smell coming from the unit. Suction at the unit itself is also reduced. Any ideas about the cause of the problem and the solution?

My versatility electrolux vacuum is 2 years old and it has lost its suction, i have replaced the filters and checked every hosing area i have access to, it seems to all be clear. I dont know what else to do, it has a higher pitched whinnig sound when it is on

It sounds like the fan blades have worn away until there's basically no air resistance, thus no air flow/suction. The whine is created by the motor turning at a higher speed due to lack of resistance. \015\012The fan wasn't covered by the wa ... Electrolux Vacuums

My shop vac is plugged. The hose is clear. The filter is removed. The filter bag is not installed. It still won't draw a suction. It sounds like it is plugged. The motor whines at a higher-than-usual pitch. What can I do?

Turn off the vac, take the head off of it and remove the filter paper. Inside, there's a white ball (bigger than golf ball, smaller than baseball) that's inside a cage. This is designed to keep water out of the blower when the vac tips over, and sh ... Vacuums

Hello, I have a problem with my Eureka Powerline bagged upright vacuum. It has a 12 amp motor and is model #4352, Type D. It was probably bought new in 1998. My problem is, while vacuuming today the motor seemed to slow down all of the sudden and then began smelling like burning rubber. I shut the vacuum off to check for blockages but could not find anything blocked. When I then turned it on again it runs but seems to only be running at 1/2 the motor speed and still has the rubber buring smell.

It sounds like a rubber sealing in the motor has come loose and is being constantly rubbed against the walls of the motor with would cause the smell and loss of motor speed caused by the fricton of rubber against the rod so if you can get to the moto ... Vacuums

Dead motor? My 8 year old Miele S251i has worked fine, until I was recently vacuuming and moved the plug from one outlet to another. When I restarted the vacuum, it made rrrrr.....rrrrrr....rrrrr noises and smelled like something was burning. I turned it off, and it's shown no signs of life since. Sound like a motor problem? I've taken the cover off and looked at the cord and seen the motor, nothing looks obviously wrong, but I'm also not mechanical.

High pitch My Hoover fusion vacuum cleaner began making a high pitch sound that makes it very annoying to vacuum. I cleaned all the things I could clean. I even cut out all the hair that was entangled in the brushes. Any idea what is causing the sound. It sounds like an siren is going off.

The Hoover Fusion has design flaws in the motor, including a metal plate that is too thin to contain the forces acting on the motor, particularly the constant strong tension from the drive belt, and a plastic plate that is attached to the metal plate ... DT 1300 As I am vacuuming the motor seems to fade in and out and sometimes stops running for a few seconds and then resumes. If I move the hose a bit near the vacuum end, it runs smoothly again. Does this sounds as if there might be a short in the motor? Would this be something I can fix myself or does the vacuum need to go in for repairs.

Hi, There is a high pitched whirring sound coming from lower part of the vacuum. When I tilt it toward me (while standing in the normal vacuuming stance) the sound sometimes lessens for a minute or so. I have tried the following things: -cleaned the two sponge filters -emptied the dirt receptacle -removed the roller and cleaned it -cleaned the brushes -the belt is not ragged and does not seem floppy -checked all of the airways for clogs (including removing the wheel base) Can you help?

I have a Kirby Dual Sanitronic '50' Vacuum Cleaner I bought in 1966. The motor does not start when I attach the belt lifter of the rug nozzle. When I remove the rug nozzle and detach the belt from the motor fan shaft the motor starts when I depress the nozzle switch and the power switch . Seems like the brushes in the motor are worn out. We have had a Dyson DC14 for 5 years. Recently, when I run the vacuum, it whines a high pitch sound. It still maintains a suction and does not seem to have lost any power. Motor still runs--sounds like jet engine. do I need a new motor? or is there some sort of muffler that has malfunctioned? vacuum belongs to disabled mom---so trying to do work ourselves--cant afford much. dont see anything obviously wrong--but know nothing about electric motors.

How do I gain access to the motor of an Electrolux 2000 canister vacuum. The air intake on the motor must be partially blocked as there is a loss of suction and the motor makes that high pitched whine like it does when you cover the hose with your hand

The breaker on the vacuum trips after about 3 seconds on. The canister was extremely full and started to smell like burnt wood, we fully cleaned out the unit. Now when the vacuum is turned on, the motor sounds weak, and then turns off in a matter of seconds, and we have to reset the breaker on the vacuum to get it to start again for another few seconds.

This sounds indicative of a worn set of carbon brushes on a dieing motor for a central vac. the armature is ,likely damaged causing teh breaker to blow. Please post back with more details as to make and model. Do not atempt to run the vac ... Vacuums
