There isn't any belts, and the fan wouldn't be rubber, so not sure what you are smelling. Maybe this picture will help you.

Vorwerk VK121 vacuum cleaner - smell of burning from housing enclosing motor. How do I get into the housing to inspect the motor? After tilting the bag sideways, there are two screws holding the housing visible, but there seems to be a thrid fixing inside the point where the handle shaft is attached - is the handle simply clipped in place? Thanks

Yes the handle is clipped in place and should come out when the button in front is pushed. Remove the screws you wrote about. After that the puzzle begins. At the bottom of the vacuum where the head is attached, remove the head by pressing the but ... Vacuums

The orange power light on the body also dims. I assume the motor or fan is jammed, but I can't open the body to find out. Replacement parts... I've got a 3594 Bissell and the belt has come completely off. In the process of breaking, it bent the metal guide inside the motor housing and melted the plastic that holds the guide and keeps the belt inline with the roller. I've got it running again by using a screw I filed all the threads off of, but it only works for 10 minutes at a time before breaking another belt. This process is getting expensive, as it usually takes 30 minutes to completely vacuum the house. Is ther

I have removed the six visible screws, but the housing is restrained at the rear. I am getting very little suction from the motor. The hose is clear, the bag new. When I open the bag cover, plug the hose in and turn the vacuum on, there is next to no suction from the motor. What do you think is wrong? How do I remove the cord retractor to get to the two screws that hold the back of the canopy cover?

Your problem is probably is you don't have a proper seal in your chasis. A vacuum has to be sealed tight or the air will leak out and the seal broken. Check around the whole body after the bag is in and check for any airflow noise. I could help more ... Vacuums

Our plug got pulled out (by driving away while the canister was still plugged-in after a vacuuming the car). How can we open up the unit to reattach the wires? We accessed two sets of screws (2pairs) toward the bag-end (not the motor-end) of the canister, but we can't locate any access for the two other apparent screws inside the body.

Remove all visible screws. Top and bottom, then once they are all removed, take a flat-head screwdriver and slowly pry around the canister until it comes completely loose and can be removed. My electrolux ambassador power wand quit working. I replaced the switch that shuts it off when the roller stops, but it wasn't the problem. The on/off switch is fine, the motor is fine. We have traced the problem to the wires inside the canister by opening the inside cover to the bag container. We see the power cords going into the canister but we're not able to get to anything. We can't find any screws to undo that would open it up in order to follow the wires deep into the canister. We've bypa

I have a Wertheim 4808 Barrel vacuum cleaner that has suddenly stopped working. I believe that there is a problem with the electrical cord connection inside. I have tried unsuccessfully to open the compartment that leads to that area. One side unscrewed with a phillips head screwdriver but the other side seems to have a different type of fixing screw that I am unable to undo. It is awkward to get at and in a deep slot and the head of the fixing screw? is not visible.
