Having problems with your Bissell 7901-1 ProHeat Scotchgard Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum ?

Hoses to and from pump

\015 When I removed the pump to this unit to go buy a replacement I wrote discriptions of where the disconnected hoses went. Apparently my descriptions were poor. Now after switching the hoses all around I am not sure where they go. How can I find out where they are supposed to be connected?\015

Answers :

You need to take the top part of the housing off to service this unit. There are two screws underneath / where the clear suction face is attached, and six scews on top (two up front, two near the back wheels, and two in the middle. (You have to take the water tank out to get to them). Once loose, reach up underneath the cover and hold the flow indicator while you unscrew it so it will not turn. The top will now come off easily.

The hoses are pretty self explanitory once you look at the intake and outflow hoses. Starting with the pump, looking at it from the front of the machine, you have three hoses attached to it. The first one on the left is the intake hose that goes to the variable flow mechinism that the soap container sits on. It has a hose coming from the water tank inlet on one side, and the hose to the pump on the other. (The soap is "sucked" into it depending on the flow rod setting) The middle hose is attached to the suction tube on the left, and the last hose on the right is the output hose that delivers the soap/water solution first to the heater (located in up behind the on/off - temp switches), then to the flow indicater/filter, then to the two spray jets. By the way, this is not a jhob for the faint hearted... have patience. Good Luck!

Hi my proheat bissell 7901 stopped pumping water to the floor, but it pumps water from the hand hose. I read the manual and followed how to check belt and the flat belt on right side of shampooer is fine and I turned on and it turns and so do the brushes at the bottom of the machine. I was reading online and I guess there's two belts on this machine? where can I find the other belt to see if it needs replacing. I guess it's a ribbed belt? that is the water pump belt?

ShopVac pump The waterhose connection is up high. The only way to get the water up to the level of the hose is to continually hold down the on button due to the automatic shut off after it fills to a certain level. On the bottom of the filter there is a hole. I am thinking there should be a small hose of some sort to put into that hole that would then lead up to the level of the water hose. Concept makes sense to me. But in the meantime, good old duct tape seems to have done the trick. Not exact

The automatic drain hose is hooked up to the back of the unit, but when the bucket is full, the automatic pump does not work. The automatic pump should come on and empty the bucket, but it does not come on unless the water is siphoned manually through the tube. Then the pump come on and empties the bucket. I have reattached the tube and still had to manually siphon the water through the tube. Any suggestions?
