Having problems with your Bissell 8910 ProHeat Clear View Upright Vacuum ?
No water/soap to carpet, but upholstery attachment works fine.
\015 Hello,I am having an issue with my Bissell not putting water/soap to the floor, yet the handheld attachment works fine. I called a local repair place and they said it was the pump, and they would be happy to replace it for $140 and 3 weeks. I can buy a pump online for far less, but I question that the pump is the issue here. Why would I get mixture out of the handheld but not to the floor? I have completely cleaned everything and I can find nothing that visually looks awry.\015
If the hose is spraying, then the pump is working. The pump is a common problem which is why the repair shop assumes that it is the problem, but their repair cost is way out of line. The more likely cause could be the heater. The heaters on these machines have been problematic in the past. The heater is heating water and soap and quite often they will plug up and then the water will not flow. The heater is used for the floor spray but not the hose. It is also possible that the floor spray jets are plugged or that the indicator dial is fowled with something and will not allow solution to flow. I would suggest finding a different shop to take it to and make sure they find the trouble before repairing and give you a more resonable estimate. This should fall somewhere in the $60.00 repair range.

My Hoover stopped sucking! If I use the attachment for stairs that works just fine, but in the upright mode for carpet it won't **** at all.

The beater bar on the carpet attachment is turning fine and when I take all the attachments off the hose I can feel the suction being created like it should be picking up debris just fine. I have a Dyson all-floor model (not the ball). I recently replaced my carpet to a Frieze. Since replacing the carpet, the Dyson is extremely hard to push. It almost forms a "seal" with the carpet. Seems to work fine on Berber carpet and laminate floor. My husband has checked to make sure the brushes are working, hoses are not clogged and belts are OK. I've had it for about a year. I have the same problem with intermitant power, however, it does not make sense that the problem is in the upper powerhead (which is what a repair guy told me) because-- when I use the other attachements it is fine. The problem only occurs when I use the carpet (big)attachment so that the roller will not turn. Couldn't it just be in the area where the bottom of the handle attaches into the carpet attachment?
You can test the auxiliary plug to the roller/beater attachment with a volt meter if you know how and take precautions. Check for 115-120 volts at the beater/roller attachment plug.
