Having problems with your Bissell Carpet Cleaner Powerbrush Deep Cleaner Vacuum ?

I bought a Bisell Pro-heat carpet shampooer and had the belt break after one use. Tried to buy replacement belts only to discover that store out of stock. Question: Is there such a thing as a "generic" or universal brush belt?

Answers :

\015\012No unfortunately not. Some brands of vacuums and steam cleaners have similar belts that can be used on several different models, however this Bissell carpet cleaner has a very unique belt, that is really unlike any other belt on the market today.
\015\012I'm sorry to hear that your local store was out of stock on these. We do however have these belts in stock ready to ship today if you haven't already found them. We do offer free shipping & no tax (except VA). Here's a link to the brush belt for your Bissell:

Small belt driving the brush...stretched out with hair accumulated in groove beneath belt. Is there a clutch or other means of tightening the belt. Went to store found belt...same size, therefore previously assumed stretched condition does not appear to be valid. I'm missing something. Any help?

You do not by a belt by size, buy it by model only. A new Hoover belt will generally be very snug when installed. As heat builds from use it stretches and becomes worn sometimes as much as 30% oversize. Good that you have cleaned out the hair. Check ... I have a Miele S1721 Powerhouse upright vacuum. When the belt broke I took it into the shop (because when i tried to replace the belt, the tension was so tight I couldn't get it back together!!). When I got it home I DISCOVERED THAT THE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT DIDN'T WORK anymore. It seems like it's set really hight, because it no longer contacts and brushes the carpet. So it's now useless. I went back to the shop and the tech denied that there was anything wrong. (I didn't have the vac with me). No

My Bissell Model 3760-4 is not working properly. The belt has been replaced (and checked 3 times), but the brush bar does not move when the brush motor button is on. The little metal turning piece that turns the belt is turnable with one's finger when the belt is off, but when we put it all back together and turn on the vacuum, the brush bar does not go around and the burning belt smell returns. Hoover Wind Tunnel 7500 Brush not Turning. I have replaced the Brush and the belt. The problem does not seem to be either to me. I believe might be a missing part. The place were the belt hooks on is a metal pole which never seems to grip the belt well. In fact it seems loose most of the time and slips on the brush, causing the belt to eventually burn up. Could there be a missing plastic or rubber piece meant to hold the belt taught  on the metal pole?

Hoover WindTunnel S3765. The motor spins and the belt turns when I turn the brushes on, and the brushes will spin. The problem is that when I do this on carpet, the brushes stop spinning. We have a Hoover upright vacuum cleaner, model Core 7. There is a switch that turns on and off the brush drive. This operates via a cam with a bearing putting pressure on the final drive belt to engage the brush head. There appears to be only a bearing deflecting the belt, should there be a pully or other device mounted on this bearing? There is so much slack a

How is the V-belt tension adjusted (Hoover Model U6439-900)or how do I know if the tension is correct? There seems to be a lot of "play" in the belt and I'm wondering if that is the reason the brush roll only turns as the wheels turn, regardless of the carpet height setting. It didn't change things. I then unscrewed the entire bottom piece to take out the brush roller. I removed hair from the end piece of the brush roller and reattached the belt; however, I cannot figure out where the microchip is supposed to go so that I can reassemble the base piece by screwing it back together.
