Having problems with your Bissell Prolite Multicyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner ?

When I step on the lever to place the vacuum in cleaning position, the head will not stay on the floor. Is there a spring or something to apply pressure of the head to the floor? Can I fix this?

Answers :

The weight of the brush in the front should keep it on the floor. The hinge may be full of dirt and needs to be cleaned out to ensure freedom of movement.

I am replacing a foot pedal on an upright Sharp vacuum cleaner-EC-TU2607. I have the broken foot pedal removed from vacuum cleaner proper but it is the removal of the broken pedal from its spring load that has me puzzled. I applied some pulling effort on the pin that holds the spring in place but there doesn't seem to be any give. Is that the correct approach or is there something else that one should be doing first to release some of the resistance by the pin or spring? Thanks!

There is a rubber valve on the top of Dyson DC14 all floors. When the vacum is locked in its upright position or the hand wand is used there is a whistling sound coming out of the valve. When the vac is used as a floor vac, it does not make the sound. Is this something that I can fix? Is there an obstruction somewhere that would be causing this sound? thank you.

The motor just went out on my 2 year old vacuum with light usage (hardwood floors in a very small house.) The Sears repairpeople are estimating ~ $130 to fix (this includes parts & labor). I'm wondering if it's worth investing $130 into something i've spent $350 on only 2 years ago. Shouldn't these machines last longer ? Is there something I could do to get them repair free as it seems the motor must have been faulty to only have lasted 2 years. Thoughts ?

Wondering if the head is plugged up because it makes a sound like air is escaping somewhere. I've replaced the original cloth bag with a comparable "O" paper bag from Sears. I tried to see if there was a clog in the hose by placing a broom handle in the hose to see if something would loosen. I also cleaned the filter and the air filter. If the head is plugged, how can I fix it? We can't get the vacuum apart. Thanks.

Hoover model U6476910 I was cleaning out the bearing sections of the brush when a spring type pressure washer fell on the floor. Dyson vacuum I have a DC07 vaccuum. The problem I am having is that the front does not want to stay down as I vaccuum and I continuously have to keep stepping on the front to make it go back down to the floor. It seems as though there is either not enough weight in the front or possibly the unit just has to be broken in so that there is not so much resistance between the handle and the front of the vaccuum. Could there be something I did not remove or is this typical on these vaccuums?
