Having problems with your Bissell SpotBot Robotic Wet/Dry Vacuum ?

Bissell SpotBot gears jam.

\015 The SpotBot seems to be poorly designed!\302\240 The gears between the small gear and the large cleaning head are too far apart and as a result they jam and make a loud crunching noise.\302\240 Solution:\302\240 twist the cleaning head so the gears mesh again.\302\240 Operate for a few seconds.\302\240 Repeat.\302\240 I took off the bottom cover (5 screws) to adjust the clearance.\302\240 No adjustment.\302\240 The factory person was flighty - couldnt remember a whole sentence front to back and did not help other than to say to go to service center. Since the unit is out of warranty this is an income item for the repair center!Anyone know how far into the machine you have to go to make this adjustment?\302\240 Or is this a bad design with no provision for adjustment?\015

Okay, guys.... I solved the problem. The answer lies in "solution #2", above. Indeed there are sockets for 16 plastic ball bearings in the SpotBot, and it's outfitted with only 8. Why? Who knows?
\015\012
\015\012So, I ordered additional plastic balls from McMaster-Carr in Atlanta. www.mcmaster.com
\015\012
\015\012You want part #9613K24. They'll send you 50 - 1/2" nylon balls for about $17, including FedEx shipping.
\015\012
\015\012My SpotBot previously behaved as poorly as anything previously described, but now purrs like a kitten.
\015\012
\015\012You'll have lots of balls left over -- if you'd rather get 10 from me for $10 instead of 50 for $17 from McMaster, email me at [email protected] and we'll work it out.

I'm having the same problem. Loud buzzing noise and the head doesn't rotate. Looks like this is a major problem for this unit. Perhaps it's worth spreading the word so others can avoid buying it until Bissell fixes the problem.

Bissell proheat 2x 9200 series carpet cleaner. I need to remove the Brush Drive motor. However, this series has the gear end of the motor shaft poking out a hole on the left hand side. I removed the retaining washer and pin from the gear shaft. I need to get the gear off of the shaft in order to remove the motor. It's not budging. How do I remove the gear so I can pull the motor out of the unit? Thanks .

The gear that turns the dual brushes on my Bissell Spot Lifter 1716 seems to be stripped. The belt looks loose as well, but when I take the belt cover and the brush assembly out, the gear that turns the brushes is loose and appears to be stripped on the cogs. When I turn the machine on the belt turns the gear but the brushes just sit there an vibrate. They make an attempt to turn now and then but not much. Need to get a schematic or the parts so I can order the gear if it is available and th

Bissell Powersteamer 1694W won't extract water from carpet. Was extracting fine until the pump/brush belt gear broke off off the pump. I repaired the gear with super glue and the brush is once again working fine. I now have an extraction problem. What did I do wrong? I took it apart and was so proud of myself when I fixed the original problem. Now I'm lost.

There is a shaft that comes out of the pump of my Bissell 1623-1 Power Steamer with gears on it. The belt to the brush attaches to it. When I went to change the belt, the belt was fine but the gear itself with the small shaft on it was no longer attached and just dropped out. It looks like there might have been a bushing there, but no more. Any ideas?
