Same thing, brushes dont spin unless vacuum is tilted back

\015 I cleaned all the hairs and it spins very easily. Also my height adjustment doesnt do a thing either. This vacuum used to "pull" forward when I got it, now it just sits there. Im not sure whats wrong...\015

I had the same problem. Checked the belt, pulled out all the hairs, cleaned the hoses, but the agitator brush wouldn't spin at all or only marginally. Finally I removed the agitator brush altogether and found crud and accumulated in the small groove at the ends, creating friction. I cleaned it with a small knife (not the most technical of tools, but the only thing small enough I could find to fit in there, especially since it seems there's no way to pop off the end caps and clean them properly). This seems to have solved the problem for now...although I still can't seem to clean it enough to get that same 'pull' back. Good enough to clean up after three black dogs, though, since NOT vacuuming is NOT an option.
Did you loose the belt

Dirt devil vacuum cleaner--trouble vacuuming dirt and pet hair on carpeting --is the problem with the spinning brush which contacts the floor,  not contacting the carpeting??  I thought (when I bought this vacuum) that the aforementioned brush was adjustable to various heights of carpeting.  Sometimes, it seems like nothing is being vacuumed up --unless I have just put a new bag on the vacuum... Do I need or can I replace the spinning brush on the bottom of the vacuum so it kicks up and vacuums

My Rainbow SE vacuum was working fine until I ran over the edge of a rug and it went in to the nozzle. I immediately switched the vacuum off and proceeded to move the rug. When I tried to turn the Rainbow back on the brush was no longer spinning. I've tried the reset button and checking the nozzle for any debris, there are none. The brush just won't spin.

Hello lilbutmunch1,\015\012The brush is motor/belt driven so you probably either broke the belt or it shifted off the motor or brush shaft. I suggest you unplug it,flip it over and look for screws that hold the baseplate together.. remove those ... Rainbow E series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum

I was vacuuming my room and all of a sudden I hear this loud noise, then notice the roller brush isn't spinning. Thinking too much hair was caught I separated it from the rod and hose to clean it out, but noticed that the roller brush didn't move at all while I was cleaning it. I've cleaned the brush before and it would roll around with little effort, but this time I couldn't move it at all. After removing hair and string I put the vacuum back together and started it up, but the noise continued,

No, not true, because when I turn it on and try to and vacuum (by lower canister with foot release) it makes that terrible ratching sound). Please help

I have Hoover Widepath Bagless 12 Amp Windtunnel vacuum. Yesterday I was vacuuming and smelled smoke and it shut itself off. Today I cleaned out the filters (they weren't bad) made sure nothing was obstructing the hoses or the spinning brush part. It turned on for 1 second, smells like smoke somewhere from the bottom and now won't turn back on so I don't know if anything is spinning or not. What can I do to fix this myself?

Hi There,\015\012\015\012When a vacuum cleaner smokes, it is usually only one of two possible problems.\015\012\015\012It could either be that your motor burned up, or that your belts burned. The belts on this particular mod ... Hoover Self-Propelled WindTunnel Bagless Upright VacuumVacuum

I took the cover off the brush so I could cut off all the hair that was wrapped around it (vacuum was working fine, I just noticed the hair). I pulled the brush/spinner thing off one side, cleaned everything, popped it back in where it belonged, and tried to make sure the belt was in the proper alignment. However, when I turned the vacuum on, it makes a horrible noise like I'm sucking up rocks. What have I done wrong in putting it back together? It seemed simple...

Last night as I was vacuuming, I noticed that the belt stop indicator light was on. I pulled out the hair that had gotten tangled around the brush in hopes of solving the problem. It didn't change things. I then unscrewed the entire bottom piece to take out the brush roller. I removed hair from the end piece of the brush roller and reattached the belt; however, I cannot figure out where the microchip is supposed to go so that I can reassemble the base piece by screwing it back together. It seems

Not sure what you mean when you refer to a "microchip" but maybe it is a sensor that works with the belt.\015\012Anyway, if you Google the make and model number of your vacuum you can probably get an exploded view or owners manual that might indicate ... Vacuums

My electrolux oxygen canister cuts on and off. I have to open and close the vacuum, or take the base of the hose off and then re-insert. I have to do all these things before it will start up again. I was in the middle of using my vacuum when it quite on me. I tried multiple things including letting it cool off for a while as I was using it to vacuum my car outside and it was pretty hot. I also dismantled it according to the directions and looked for blockages and didn't find any and lastly I cleaned out the brush and put it back on. I am out of solutions. Hoover Windtunnel U5750-900 Agitator brush is weak. It turns fine if I tilt the vacuum back, but it slows to almost 1/4 speed when it touches carpet, even on the highest carpet setting. I should probably lube the agitator brush ball bearings, and re-check the belt, but, other than that, I'm stumped.
