Having problems with your Bissell Upright Vacuum - The Pet Hair Eraser 1 ea Vacuum ?

My brush roller stopped spinning so I had to take it off and clean out all the hair that had gotten wound around it. I replaces it and now it is make a lound noise, but only when the brush is on. Could it be the belt making such a loud sound? It wasn't making this noise before.

Answers :

Could very well be the belt.\015\012When cleaning the brush it is a good idea to add some WD40 at the ends where the plastic pieces are that hold the brush in the vacuum. The brush needs to be able to move freely around the plastic pieces.\015\012Add the WD40 and rotate the plastic pieces around the brush until they move freely.\015\012Reassemble making sure the belt is put in correctly so the brush moves in the right direction.\015\012

When I vacuum w/ the brush control in the on position it make a really loud noise, almost like a grinding sound. I have looked at it and nothing seems to be wrong, but I notice that the pin that engages the belt seems to vibrate a bit, possibly creating the noise. It started when I accidentally got part of a plastic grocery bag caught in the brush. Could it have stretched a belt? Nothing is caught any other place and it only makes the noise when the brush in in the on position.

Yes, the belt could have been stretched and is now vibrating and hitting other parts and creating a noise if much of the bag got caught under the belt. If you have another belt for this vacuum, please put it on and see if the noise stops. If it does ... Hoover U5780-900 Windtunnel Cyclonic Bagless UprightVacuum

I replaced the belt on my Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum and the brush roller rubs and makes a very loud noise when turned on. I have gone exactly by the manual instructions and made sure the belt and end caps were on correctly, but the bristles still rub the back and it makes a very loud noise. Without the brush roller in the vacuum, it sounds and runs normal. What could the problem be?

My dyson C07 ANIMAL is making a loud clatter noise when I push the head down. I have removed the sole plate and the brush bar is cracked so I removed it, but I understand the clutch maybe a problem also from reading other people's comments..how can I tell if it's a clutch problem also? Or... could it be just the brush bar being cracked that's causing the loud noise?

I cleaned out my dyson ball as it smelt when i hoovered, cleaned filters, washed out canister and took the screws out of the front bar so i could clean near the brushes.. now its making a high pitched noise and when i switch it off it makes a noise like an engine shutting down! Have i disturbed the motor?

Hi its Darran at Dyson. The screws on the base of the cleaner head should not have to be removed to access the brush bar so it is possible that the brush bar has come out of alignment, hence the noise the machnie is making. Pl ... Dyson Ball DC24 Bagless Upright Vacuum

Bad Motor I have purchased two of the Kenmore direct drive beltless systems with Progressive systems. The first died after a year, the vacuum motor start making a grinding noies. I pulled the side HEPA filter and could see a fine coating of graphite like dust. Took it to a vacuum repair shop. They said the brushes were going and thus the motor was shot. I liked the vacuum and bought a second, 1 year later the motor is making a slight noise that and removing the HEPA filter I find a slight metall

That dust is from the carbon brushes on the motor. You may need to check them, and also clean out the motor compartment. A slight noise could be a motor bearing starting to go. Does the smell like rubber or electrical. If rubber, then the belt h ... Vacuums

I took the cover off the brush so I could cut off all the hair that was wrapped around it (vacuum was working fine, I just noticed the hair). I pulled the brush/spinner thing off one side, cleaned everything, popped it back in where it belonged, and tried to make sure the belt was in the proper alignment. However, when I turned the vacuum on, it makes a horrible noise like I'm sucking up rocks. What have I done wrong in putting it back together? It seemed simple...

I have a dyson model seven all floor. It is making a terrible grinding noise when the carpet knob is engaged. Could something have gotten sucked up into the belt compartment, off the brush belt? Any ideas?

That is most likely what happened.\015\012You may want to open up the bottom where the floor brush is and check the condition of the belt and as to whether or not something is caught in the belt or beater brush.\015\012The owner's manual should provi ... Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Roomba My Scheduler started making a "grinding" noise every now and then until one day it just started grinding and then stopped (I could restart the unit, however it repeated the grinding and stopping). I have checked the wheels and all of the gears appear to be in good order. I have a hunch the brush motor may be stripped. Any opinions? Thanks: RAnderson

IRobot rumba 4000 seems to run ok and then starts making a kinda hi pitched growling noise and slows way down. it is very clean(blown clean with air compressor)sensors are clear ,newly installed well lubricated on ends of brush and beater bar, new battery. it seems like the wheel tracks may be dragging . i have cleaned and lubricated where i could on them but can't find a way to totally remove and inspect wheel tracks.

It sounds like your Roomba's brush gears are not working. Run the robot without the dust bin to see if the brushes are turning. If they are not, the robot will need to be replaced. Contact iRobot CS for support at (877) 855-8593. ... iRobot Roomba 4000 Bagless Robotic Vacuum

Sebo X4 is squealing when pulled back. Takes a while after it's been running for this to happen. We changed the roller brush (needed it anyway) but didn't take care of the noise. Could the wheels be making this sound? At least that's what my staff thinks is going on... I own a commercial cleaning company and all we use are sebos... they're an amazing machine!

Yep - we think Sebos are pretty good too. I work at a Sebo sales and repair dealership! The wheels are a good bet - I can't think of anything else that might cause the noise. If in doubt, I suppose you could simply wheel one around for a while when s ... Sebo X4 Bagged Upright Vacuum

The vacuum is making a noise like something is stuck when it is in the carpet position but not when in the floor position. I can't find anything that is stuck in the areas that I can see. I have cleaned the brush but it does not seem to want to turn. Does this machine need to be oiled so the roller will turn? Is there a way to check inside the motor? Do you think that because the brush won't turn that is making the noise? Do you know of any repair shops in the Lake Havasu City, Arizona area?

As far as the roller brush goes, yes, it does need to be cleaned. Follow the directions to remove it and clean as best you can of all debris. On both ends of the roller brush there will be two "holders" of sort that connect the brush to the frame o ... Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

My FEIN 9-55-'13 recently started making more noise and is now officially a "screamer". There also developed quite a vibration associated with the noise which made me think it was probably bearings. So I took it apart and found no detectable play or lateral movement in the bearings, they seem fine to me. So I thought perhaps the brushes. The rotor where the brushes ride is quite black but I can't figure out how to get to those brushes, although I don't really think they are causing the noise

This problem is only caused by one thing the motor bearings are noisy, I have never found any other reason, they may look good and fell good but trust me replace the motor and the noise ... Fein 9-55-13 Turbo II Bagged Canister Vacuum

My Dyson DC 14 is making the horrible "ratcheting"sound only when the brush is engaged on the carpet setting. I have cleaned the brush, so there are no obstructions, the canister is empty and properly on the unit. I checked to make sure all of the "traps" and hoses are clear of obstructions, the belt is on the brush securely and moves freely, the brush itself spins freely, but there is still the "ratcheting" noise. Any other suggestions?

Our DC33 was making the same ratcheting sound immediately upon placing the cleaner/brush head on the carpet. We carefully pulled the beater/brush bar out of the vacuum. Once removed, we pulled the black plastic end off of the center rod. We discovere ... Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
