Answers :

To replace the Brush Belt:

You will need a Phillips head screwdriver.

1. Turn the machine OFF and unplug from the wall outlet.

2. Step on the release pedal to lay the handle down on the floor.

3. Remove the Tank-in-Tank and SmartMix Bottle and set them aside.

4. Turn the machine over to expose the brush.

5. Look for the red retainers, which hold the black brush arms and gear-type brush belt in place. Unscrew the two Phillips head screws. Set these parts aside.

6. Loop the replacement brush roll belt around the brush end and the red pulley with the ridges.

7. Alternate holding each brush arm in place while replacing the red retainers.

8. Replace the Phillips head screws and turn until snug.

9. Turn the machine right side up to replace the Tank-in-Tank and SmartMix Bottle.

We have a Hoover upright vacuum cleaner, model Core 7. There is a switch that turns on and off the brush drive. This operates via a cam with a bearing putting pressure on the final drive belt to engage the brush head. My brush head is not turning and with the lever set to engage the drive there is still considerable slack in the final drive belt. There appears to be only a bearing deflecting the belt, should there be a pully or other device mounted on this bearing? There is so much slack a

Yes, there should have been a white plastic sprocket on top of the bearing - in its channel the belt would sit. Unfortunately no parts are available for this unit that can be bought retail - only available by order to dealer repair shops.\012\012\012 ... Hoover Vacuums

Hello. I have an electrolux glider upright bagless vacuum cleaner (UK model) who's brushes do not rotate any more. I'm guessing that I need to replace the drive belt but I have no idea where to start. I would appreciate any tips. thanks

Hello! There are two solutions to this as the Glider model you speak of could be the more old fashioned type where screws on the bottom foot plate (ie where the spinning brush sits) have to be undone in order to get to the drive belt.\015\012 ... Electrolux Vacuums

I have a Dyson all-floor model (not the ball). I recently replaced my carpet to a Frieze. Since replacing the carpet, the Dyson is extremely hard to push. It almost forms a "seal" with the carpet. Seems to work fine on Berber carpet and laminate floor. My husband has checked to make sure the brushes are working, hoses are not clogged and belts are OK. I've had it for about a year. It is virutally impossible to push on the new carpet. Any ideas?

I have a Bissell Model 8905 Carpet Cleaner. I was going to replace the belts because the pump belt broke, but when I turned the machine over, a small piece fell out. You probably should have replaced the flat belt(38528035) also. But the drive belt has a idler wheel(#13) to engage it, is it riding on the belt, if not if may have jammed to one side and able to spring up against the V belt. It could have broke al ... Vacuums

How is the V-belt tension adjusted (Hoover Model U6439-900)or how do I know if the tension is correct? There seems to be a lot of "play" in the belt and I'm wondering if that is the reason the brush roll only turns as the wheels turn, regardless of the carpet height setting. And yes, the brush roll is set for carpet, not hard floor. Or is the cause of the problem something other than the V-belt? A new flat belt was installed when the machine was professionally serviced so I assume (?) that was a

The V-Belt is not adjustable. There are two ways the belt has no tension: (1) when the handle is upright, a mechanical lever takes the drive tension off the belt, and (2) the brush roll lever setting you described. The Panasonic MC-V7515 has two belts. The local vacuum repair guy says he only has a part number for the drive belt, which is UB-9. How do I find a replacement for the other belt, the one which directly drives the beater bars? By the way, this vacuum has great suction, but otherwise is far inferior to my previous Panasonic vacuums. The cheaper models aren't a good buy--stick with the more expensive models.

Hoover Windtunnel U5750-900 Agitator brush is weak. It turns fine if I tilt the vacuum back, but it slows to almost 1/4 speed when it touches carpet, even on the highest carpet setting. I've replaced the agitator belt twice. The brush used to turn powerfully even on the lowest (Hard Floor) setting. Ideas? I should probably lube the agitator brush ball bearings, and re-check the belt, but, other than that, I'm stumped.
