Motor My vacuum cut out as I was using it. After some experimenting I found that the circuit reset had gone off. When I tried a second time while near the motor , there was a flash and again the motor shut off. At this time I am guessing that the motor is faulty. The central vacuuming is approximately 12 years old.

If it tripped the reset again, I would probably agree with you. Check out centralvacuum.com for another motor. They aren't the cheapest, but they have excellent support. Good Luck!! ... Easy Flo EF1400 Central System Vacuum

Sounds like you have an overtemp switch that is tripping and shutting your motor off. Many motors use what they call a 'snap switch" ( looks like a small disk with two wires on it ) to sense motor temp and if that trips, then it will temporarily disa ... Vacuums

I have the Nutone 353 central vacuum. The last few times we have used it motor has shut down and then will come back up after an hour or so. Re-set switch does not seem to matter

This is typical of a motor going bad. As it heats up it shuts down all by itself, no sensors other than the mini breaker. The intervals will get shorter and maybe the minibreaker will pop. Central vac system is 18 years old. Recently started to shut down during vacuuming. Motor may be over heating. Electrolux has been out and is pushing a new system but not sure if it is necessary.

The motor can be replaced for a lot less than the cost of a new machine. A new motor comes with a one year warranty if installed by the service tech. A new CV unit alone may be over three times as much, but does have a five year warranty.\015 ... Electrolux Cs 3000 Central System Vacuum

I purchased a Eureka C4910 last year and have a question that I am hoping you can answer. There are two motor actions with this vacuum, 1) the vacuum suction, and 2) the beater bar. The action of the beater bar is that motor is supposed to automatically shut off when the handle is in the complete vertical position assuming the vacuum is stationary, but then turn on when the handle is tilted toward the floor, assuming the vacuum is moving back and forth. The beater bar motor turn-on mechan

Central vacuum Hello, my central vacuum motor just clicks when you insert the hose into the receptacle. Is there anything I can do besides get a new motor or unit?

If the central vacuum is clicking that means that the circuit breaker is working and trying to get the motor to run but the motor is not functioning. This means it's time for either a new motor or a new unit. Unfortunately there's really no way aroun ... Electrolux Central Vacuum

I have a central vacuum system. When I disconnect the hose from a wall outlet the central canister does not shut down dispite my turning off the vacuum at the handle of the hose. The only way I can get the system to shut down is to pull the plug at the canister. What gives? Rob

Hello, I have a problem with my Eureka Powerline bagged upright vacuum. It has a 12 amp motor and is model #4352, Type D. It was probably bought new in 1998. My problem is, while vacuuming today the motor seemed to slow down all of the sudden and then began smelling like burning rubber. I shut the vacuum off to check for blockages but could not find anything blocked. When I then turned it on again it runs but seems to only be running at 1/2 the motor speed and still has the rubber buring smell.

It sounds like a rubber sealing in the motor has come loose and is being constantly rubbed against the walls of the motor with would cause the smell and loss of motor speed caused by the fricton of rubber against the rod so if you can get to the moto ... Vacuums

Our vacuum bag was full and we keep on vacuuming. I believe some lent and hair got sucked into the vacuum motor. We've changed the bag and filters. Now the motor makes a loud noise especially when shutting off. what should we do?

My Shop Vac (Brand) Mdl#934-16-11 keeps shutting off while I'm dry vacuuming. I can turn it back on then it will shut off again. The filter is spotless, so that's not the issue. There isn't any reset buttons. The only thing I can think of is that the float for wet vacuuming is somehow being sucked up causing the the motor to be tripped off. The vacuum is only about a year and a half old and used only sparingly. Help!

I was just using my Bosch 1450W bagged vacuum and all of a sudden, the motor just shut down. No warning, no problems. The light still turns on, but the motor is unresponsive. There is a clean bag and filter, and nothing caught in the front roller. The motor sounded fine - no shaking, or weird frequency variations. There were no weird smells, just a little bit of heat, but nothing beyond normal. I've had this thing for several years, and never had a bit of trouble with it. Any suggestions
