Motor noise CV 353

\015 Unfortunately I forgot ot keep changing the bag when cleaning up after a b ig sanding job. The bag burst and I only noticed when the motor started to make a LOT of noise (still providing suction though). I cleaned out the bag and filter and bottom half of the unit but the noise persists and I fear there may be sawdust/dust all up in the motor itself. Is this something I can fix? I haven't yet tried to take apart the upper section of the unit. Oh, and there was a lot of dust around the pipes (inlet/outlet) so i think the dust got everywhere (somehow). As the cost of getting it serviced might equal replacing the motor I thought maybe I should try and take it apart and just vacuum it all down with another cleaner. Is this reasonable easy to do for the casual home-improver? ThanksTJ\015

Answers :

If its noisy you more than likely need a new motor. just call your nutone service center an they will assit you. the units sold before 99 came with a lifetime warrenty to the original owner.
Its not that bad to take apart and blow out the motor with a compressor, but if that dust got into the bearings of the motor it could be ruined.

My Bissell 3920 motor is making a high pitched noise. I have cleared out pet hair from top to bottom. Cleaned the lower filter and replaced the upper filter. I Checked for blockage in the hoses and found none. The filter indicator goes green when I turn it on, but the straining motor noise persists.

My bissell model 18Z6 has developed a loud noise and vibration when the brush is running. I have removed the brush assy and cleaned all the hair, etc but still the noise. I ran the brush motor with the belt disconnected and all seemed ok, but of course there was no load on the motor. I suspect a problem with the brush assy bearings or axle or both but I hate to just throw parts at the problem. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Motor is sparking and smells like burning rubber. When it first happened I thought the vacuum had something jamming the beater bar. That was the smell it had, like when the belt gets burned. But when we turned it over, it wasn't jamming. Took off the base plate and turned it on. The motor area is sparking and it makes a weird noise (I assume that is because the motor fails and restarts). I looked for loose wires, can't find any. I believe I need some sort of part replaced, maybe even a n

Dead motor? My 8 year old Miele S251i has worked fine, until I was recently vacuuming and moved the plug from one outlet to another. When I restarted the vacuum, it made rrrrr.....rrrrrr....rrrrr noises and smelled like something was burning. I turned it off, and it's shown no signs of life since. Sound like a motor problem? I've taken the cover off and looked at the cord and seen the motor, nothing looks obviously wrong, but I'm also not mechanical.

I'm not really a technician, but I used to sell Filter Queens and was taught how to maintain them, and have tackled "fixing" some problems. The vacuum is making a noise like something is stuck when it is in the carpet position but not when in the floor position. I can't find anything that is stuck in the areas that I can see. I have cleaned the brush but it does not seem to want to turn. Does this machine need to be oiled so the roller will turn? Is there a way to check inside the motor? Do you think that because the brush won't turn that is making the noise? Do you know of any repair shops in the Lake Havasu City, Arizona area?

Was hoovering when my DC04 made a funny high pitched noise then a whirring noise, this was accompanied by a smell of burning and a puff of smoke! Almost sounds like it might be a clutch slipping, is this possible or is it more likely to be a motor burn out?

OK... the DC04 doesn't have a clutch. My best guess is that the belt that drives the brush roll has broken. The smell of burning and smoke puff were probably caused by the motor suddenly speeding up when freed of its burden of driving the brush roll. ... Vacuums
