If my system is stopped up will it make a noise inside when i plug in my hose it makes one out side at canister but not at my wall hose

Answers :

Yes. A clog will cause the motor to work harder resulting in a higher pitch. To prevent the motor from burning out the clog needs cleared ASAP.
\015\012This could be something as simple as cleaning the filter, but it could also be a blockage in the hose. This will be more difficult to clear, but if you can attach the handle end of the hose to the vacuum and turn it on, it may clear it. If not, you'll probably need to take it to a repair shop.

Hi: My DC14 (not animal version) has 3 major cracks that have pretty much killed the thing. There are three 'columns' that run down from the handle to the base. From the back, the left one has either the intake or outflow for the canister and the right one has the reverse. The middle one is where the base of the extension hose and cord is mounted. On all three the plastic has cracked at about the point where the bottom of the canister meets the permafilter. The vacuum is useless now and

One of my Levolor double-honeycomb blinds is no longer level (one side goes up faster than the other). Another of my blinds (same brand, model) seems to have broken, with one side no longer rising. Both blinds are about 9 years old. Is there any way to fix them? Or, does it make more economic sense to replace them? Thank you!

Hello, I have a Kenmore Progressive Canister Vacuum 116.20912006. It won't turn on. On the hose assembly, the end where the hose swivel is, there are 4 metal pins that plug into the canister. One of the pins looks like it broke off. There are only three pins remaining. I assume there should be four pins as there are four holes. Is this the problem and is it fixable? The vacuum is from 2002 so I am not sure a replacement part is even available and at what price. Thank you. Susan susan.eng@

Hi Susan, if the pin has broken off you can do one of two things, first, would be to find a local vacuum repair shop and take it there for them to look at. they may be able to look at the hose and fix it for you pretty cheaply. what ... Kenmore Progressive 20912 Bagged Canister Vacuum

I have a central vacuum system. When I disconnect the hose from a wall outlet the central canister does not shut down dispite my turning off the vacuum at the handle of the hose. The only way I can get the system to shut down is to pull the plug at the canister. What gives? Rob

What I'm hearing is the canister(Not the Powerhead) portion of the unit is running all the time unless you unplug it. this problem could be caused by a short in one of your low voltage lines running through the house. To determine that just unplug on ... Vacuums

I had the vacuum cleaner question about the canister and the wand/powerhead... the Kenmore Progressive Vacuum canister model 116.25812 and the canister not powering off without unplugging the vacuum. The solution I received that they both run on their own switch so it is normal makes sense. However, is there a power switch on the canister anywhere? The only way for the canister to be turned off is by unplugging it. Any ideas? One would think there would be a switch. I am new to fixya and hope

Clogged hose A makeup brush (about 3.5 inches long) was sucked up through the vacuum hose. It won't come back through the same way it came in because the bristles in the brush are expanded. Lost suction I've only used this vacuum a few times, it's practically brand new. Now, one I turn it on, it sounds fine, and the hose feels as if it's getting some suction, but it's not strong enough to actually **** things up from the carpet into the canister. I have completely emptied the canister and bought a new filter. Nothing seems to help.

I have a remote Hunter Ceiling Fan w/ remote 1-2-3 fan speed buttons and one on/off/dimmer light button. Model Number CP-9110R. It only has one pull string and it is for the light. I would like convert the light to work off of a simple wall on/off switch and the fan to be controlled by a 3-speed pull string. Can I by-pass all the sensors and make it work?

I see noone has answered so I will.Yes,it could be done, but if there is not a conversion kit for your fan,it would not be wise to do it.For starters, all of the things required would probably cost at least $15.Also,there is at least one tool you would ... Vacuums

The power head of my DC 21 keeps cutting off as soon as I start moving the hose around. The only way to get it going again is to step on the main switch on the canister, then the whole cycle of off and on starts again. I was changing a light bulb with one of those metal extension rods that unscrew and screw back in the replacement bulbs. It evidently didn't seat correctly and pulled off the bulb and created a quick "poof" type electrical short. I have switched out that bad bulb with a new one and can't get either the fan or lights to work. There doesn't appear to be a reset switch. I took the cover off the brush so I could cut off all the hair that was wrapped around it (vacuum was working fine, I just noticed the hair). No Suction My two year old Kenmore Progressive stopped working in January. The guy at the Sears service center convinced me that buying a new one would be cheaper than getting it fixed. So I bought the exact same model and now this one has given out in the exact same way! I'm so confused. When I press on, it lights up and makes the whirring noise. Everything seems to be working but there is no suction anywhere. Not in the main part or the hose and there's no "cyclone effect" in the chamber. All

Filter I bought this Hoover a few years ago-- just now about to use it first time. I cannot find my user's manual and don't know how to change the filter-- or to clean it or whatever I am supposed to do with it. Kenmore 21875 One day it's working fine. Next day, it won't turn on. When I attach the hose to another vacuum cleaner, it runs. Is there a reset button on the canister? Could it be the receptacle is bad? My Kenmore Progressive won't turn on today either -but was fine last week. I cleaned the filters checked for blocked air, tried a different outlet and no luck. I have any easy-flo built-in vacuum. I recently had the bearings on the motor, top and bottom replaced. I put the vacuum back together and it mow has low suction power. There is plenty of suction on the side of the canister where the rigid tubing meets the canister body but little suction at the wall plates. Any ideas? Roger

There is either a blockage or a pipe is open somewhere. You should check the system at the wall valve without the hose to determine if the pipes are blocked or if perhaps the hose is plugged. If one of the wall valves is damaged or open, this will af ... Vacuums

I bought a Kenmore canister vacuum, model 116, in April 2007. This morning, the sound of the motor suddenly began to deepen, and I began to lose suction. Normally, if something is clogging the hose, the motor will wind up to a higher pitch, not a lower one. The filters are clean, the bag is empty, and I can't detect anything lodged in the hose. If this were a car's engine, I would say it's "lugging down". Any pointers?

My Dyson DC 14 is making the horrible "ratcheting"sound only when the brush is engaged on the carpet setting. I have cleaned the brush, so there are no obstructions, the canister is empty and properly on the unit. I checked to make sure all of the "traps" and hoses are clear of obstructions, the belt is on the brush securely and moves freely, the brush itself spins freely, but there is still the "ratcheting" noise. Any other suggestions?
