Having problems with your Dewalt DC500 Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum ?
After using it to clean up construction project, I cleaned the tank, filter and cleared the hose, but I have lost good suction.
There are actually two filters in the DC500. The big obvious one and the not so obvious one. Don't yank on the ball housing its screwed together. There is a filter above the ball just before the fan. Its blue and really easy to see if you turn the machine over after the collection tank has been removed. If you can't see a blue filter and the black plastic grid holding it in place, your pre filter is clogged because somebody used it with out the large primary filter. I found this out by accident. Anyway get your screw gun out and carefully remove the screws to release the bottom. Next unplug the motor terminals, they just pull off no big deal. There are 6 or so screws holding the fan cover on the bottom remove those carefully. There are only two screws holding the ball and plastic cage in the the fan housing, take those out and the ball and housing come free followed by the black cowling holding the blue pre filter. Pick the blue filter out and rinse really good. Put it back together and it should be good as new. Never use the thing with out the primary filter again. Hope this helps!
Check the plug on the side to see if it's loose or missing.

My vac has lost suction. When I vacuum it picks up very little, but when I remove the wand hose it has good suction. We have cleaned both filters, checked for blockage in all hoses & cleaned the beater bar brush. All to no avail. Is it the motor? Or is there a blockage deep in the vac somewhere? We're debating repair versus buying a new one. Hope you can help. Thanks.

My Hoover Windtunnel, 12-amp, UGG16-900 (or U6616-900 - hard to make out the "G"s from the "6"s) suddenly lost suction this morning. The dirt collection thing is completely clean (I always clean it out after using), the side filter is dirty but not destructively so, and I can see nor feel any obstructions in the hoses. Should I take it in (a real hassle in NYC) or get a new dyson? LOL.

I also cleaned the filter and removed the other air access cover and made sure that they were clear. I put everything back and the brush still doesn't turn and there is still no suction through the bottom

Dyson DC 14 hose has no suction, with or without brush attachments. Hot air shoots out from the base of the canister when I try to use the hose. I cleaned the top filter, but can't figure out how to remove the hepa filter to clean it without destroying the case. It looks like it might take three hands to insert pennies and "flip" the case open as is suggested on a youtube video for a different model. Would this even help, assuming I could get the thing open?

Poor Suction Heya! So I just picked up a used Dyson, but when I vacuum with it, the suction is pretty weak and it spits all kinds of stuff out the back and into my feet.
