Hello, I have a problem with my Eureka Powerline bagged upright vacuum. It has a 12 amp motor and is model #4352, Type D. It was probably bought new in 1998. My problem is, while vacuuming today the motor seemed to slow down all of the sudden and then began smelling like burning rubber. I shut the vacuum off to check for blockages but could not find anything blocked. When I then turned it on again it runs but seems to only be running at 1/2 the motor speed and still has the rubber buring smell.

It sounds like a rubber sealing in the motor has come loose and is being constantly rubbed against the walls of the motor with would cause the smell and loss of motor speed caused by the fricton of rubber against the rod so if you can get to the moto ... Vacuums

I just bought the LG200R vacuum. It is working wonderfully but i have only had it a week. I have already had to clean the agitator but this is due to my extremely long hair and apparently i shed a lot. I was wondering if i should be alarmed by the funny smell it leaves in the air. Its not like a burning rubber smell but more like a fresh plastic smell or sorta chemical like smell (hard to describe) and it doesn't need to be on to make this smell it seems to be permeating off the vacuum itself

Dyson DC04 is making a grinding sound & smells of burning. Hi. I have been told that the above is due to the carbon motor brushes burning out. The brush at the bottom still turns ok. I have bought 2 new carbon brushes & wondered how I would go about replacing them. Any help would be much apprecieated!

Burned out The best way for me to describe the problem is to post reviews I made on Amazon.com, which is where I purchased them. ________________ Based on my past experience, I bought another 6 months ago. I live in a very tiny 2 room apartment and do not vacuum lots of dirt. I noticed this new vac getting very hot to the touch where the motor is located with only a few minutes of use. Today it just STOPPED. When I felt the canister, it was HOT. It obviously has burned out. Upon closer inspect

My Dyson Root 6 made a loud banging sound, and now its motor emits a strong burning smell every time it's switched on. It runs for a second or two, making a lot of noise, and then stops. (Just bought a new battery for it, too - what a drag...) It's off warranty, and Dyson wants almost as much to fix it as a new one would cost. Is my Root 6 e-waste, or is there anything that can be done for it?

I have had my Bissell Healthy Home for just over a year. I use it once or twice a week on five area rugs and two small bedrooms with wall to wall carpet. Just recently, the motor started to sound extremely loud and it smells like it's burning. The vacuum still picks up everything and all the brushes are turning. Advice? I really like this vacuum and would really like to fix it rather than replace it!

110-220V Dear Sir, I purchased a kirby sentria vacuum cleaner from ebau two weeks ago. I currently resid in the UAE with 220V power. My maid has plugged the vacuum to work with it unaware of the voltage difference, a terrble noise as mentioned came from the cleaner as well as a smell. She unlugged it and stopped t from operating. Can you please let me know how can i assess the damage? If this model has a switch from 110 to 220V IS there a solution with transfromer or motor to make it work? Thank

You may have burnt up the motor field when it was plugged into a 220V power source. But there are drop down transformers you can get to reduce the voltage form 210 to 110. AS Radio Shack or similar store would have them. ... Kirby G4 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Vorwerk ET 340 - been great but now noticing strong burning smell after vacuuming some hair from the bathroom. Bag is nearly empty. Gave it a rest then unscrewed the cover housing the motor and all looks clean (dust is sucked up the pipe and doesn't appear to get near the motor). When I restarted it, burning smell still there. Are there any filters that might need changing? What could be causing the smell? Could the hair have gotten caught somewhere? Thanks.

Motor is sparking and smells like burning rubber. When it first happened I thought the vacuum had something jamming the beater bar. That was the smell it had, like when the belt gets burned. But when we turned it over, it wasn't jamming. Took off the base plate and turned it on. The motor area is sparking and it makes a weird noise (I assume that is because the motor fails and restarts). I looked for loose wires, can't find any. I believe I need some sort of part replaced, maybe even a n

BURNING SMELL My DC 07 has suffered from poor suction in the upright position for some time now but this morning it ground to a halt. It was if the motor had burned out. I turned it upside down and some small stones etc tumbled out. I tried switching on again and the motor kicked in but the smell was horrendous so i switched off immediately. If it's likely to be **** inside the motor area i don't no how to access it. I've removed for fixing screws but still unable to prise apart. Is it just the

Hello can you help me please? I have a Kirby G4 vacuum cleaner, It did work ok until it started to give off burning smell and lots of sparks from the brushes. I have changed these brushes, the motor still rotates but it still gives off sparks and burning smell. Do i have to change the motor as well? Can you help please? Thankyou Martin

Some debris, even sand or dirt, probably got into the motor, causing damage to the armature. If this is the case, you will need to replace the motor. The burning smell from the motor is generally a sure sign of a bad motor. ... Kirby G4 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Sewing machine Guru needed ;) Elna Grasshopper (new to me) circa 1950 The light works, but there was no hummm when knee pedal engaged. I have the motor out, and it is very stiff to turn. I'm at a total loss when it comes to motors and electricity. It doesn't smell burned, doesn't smell at all beyond normal machine smells. (Yes, I made detailed notes and diagrams as I took said motor out!) One other note. The long thing which my husband said might be a capacitor -- it looks like

There has been a burning smell for some time, but we continued to use it as everything was in working order. Sometimes the smell was not even noticeable. Today, however, the smell was intense and the motor kicked off. As it did, it was draining electricity like crazy. The lights dimmed drastically.

It sounds to me like the brushes in the motor are worn out or the motor has gotten water in it (if you have been using it for wet pick-up). The way you described the situation, I am really surprized if it did not trip the circuit breaker for the cir ... Rainbow E series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum

Recently my central vac system started making a louder than usual and laboured sound when in uise, enough so that I took note and inspected the canister and motor while running. The motor was trowing off blue sparks and looked like it could 'POP' at any moment. I will not risk using it until I know what the problem is and how to repair it. My assumption is the motor needs to be replaced. The system came with the resale house I bought 3 yrs ago but I do not know the age of the system itself.

I heard that a class action lawsuit against Oreck Vacuum is being started because of all the problems customers are having with their vacuums. Does anyone know about this? My Oreck is only a couple of years old and keeps burning up belts. I took it in after only one week of usage when I started to notice white smoke coming out of it and the smell of burning rubber. I feel like I got the old run-around, when the service tech told me he couldn't find anything wrong (but replaced the burned up belt
