Having problems with your Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum M085845Vacuum ?

I bought the 085845 yesterday, put it together and had trouble pushing it on my 8 x10 area carpet. The vacuum did not move easily and seemed to "pick up" the carpet. It seemed that the automatice height adjustment may not have been working. Any suggestions?

I have a Eureka Altima vacuum cleaner that doesn't pick up very well. The suction seems fine but the brush roller doesn't seem to pick up from the top of the carpet. When you lower the height of the vacuum the belt rubs and smells horribly. How can I get the vacuum to pick up better?

Dirt devil vacuum cleaner--trouble vacuuming dirt and pet hair on carpeting --is the problem with the spinning brush which contacts the floor,  not contacting the carpeting??  I thought (when I bought this vacuum) that the aforementioned brush was adjustable to various heights of carpeting.  Sometimes, it seems like nothing is being vacuumed up --unless I have just put a new bag on the vacuum... Do I need or can I replace the spinning brush on the bottom of the vacuum so it kicks up and vacuums

Sanitaire commercial vacuum On some carpets, we can't get the correct height adjustment. It's either too low, so the beaters stall and don't spin, or so high that it fails to pick up animal hair. The hose works great, but the head of the vaccuum does not pick up anything !!! I checked every opening that may have been clogged, but nothing came up. When I hold my hand under the brush/roller, it seems to be putting out more air than intaking air. Particles "dance" on the carpet, but don't get "sucked up" into the vaccuum ? I have had the vaccuum only 1 year, so the brushes should not be a problem. I changed the bag, and checked the belt. The belt and brushes seem to be OK. ?

How is the V-belt tension adjusted (Hoover Model U6439-900)or how do I know if the tension is correct? There seems to be a lot of "play" in the belt and I'm wondering if that is the reason the brush roll only turns as the wheels turn, regardless of the carpet height setting. And yes, the brush roll is set for carpet, not hard floor. Or is the cause of the problem something other than the V-belt? A new flat belt was installed when the machine was professionally serviced so I assume (?) that was a

The V-Belt is not adjustable. There are two ways the belt has no tension: (1) when the handle is upright, a mechanical lever takes the drive tension off the belt, and (2) the brush roll lever setting you described. I have a Miele S1721 Powerhouse upright vacuum. When the belt broke I took it into the shop (because when i tried to replace the belt, the tension was so tight I couldn't get it back together!!). When I got it home I DISCOVERED THAT THE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT DIDN'T WORK anymore. It seems like it's set really hight, because it no longer contacts and brushes the carpet. So it's now useless. I went back to the shop and the tech denied that there was anything wrong. (I didn't have the vac with me). No

We have two of these vacuums and both of them have experienced the same problems. First the floor heighth adjustment doesn't work and now neither one will pick up on either carpet or floor when in the brush/floor mode. They both seem to work with the suction hose function. We have removed the back panel to see if there was an obstruction but it was clear. We have changed the bag and the small filter (not the HEPA filter) all to no avail. What else can we do? We are desperate to use our vacu

Brush Roll belt stops turning durring vacuuming on WindTunnel self-propelled, v belt is a little loose with handle down. Tensioning roll is engaged OK, but fully at the end of its travel.
