Having problems with your Dirt Devil KONE Hand Vacuum MO213BLU Vacuum ?

The battery won't hold a charge, is there a fix or is it replaceable?

Answers :

Hi there,\012\012\012

Well first of all you may check that the charger (adapter) is working or not, you may use a volt meter to check it out or use another charger to make sure....... further you may follow the step below -
1. Remove the battery pack from Vacuum.
2. Hold down the power button for five seconds.
3. Reinstall the battery to reset the system.
4. Plug the Charger directly into vacuum.
5. Charge the battery untill the power light is solid green again and keep the vacuum on the charger for an additional 72 hours (3 days). Important: Do NOT interrupt this charging cycle.
If further you have the same problem it means it's time to change the old battery with new one.

Good Luck!!

Thanks for using FixYa!!

\012\011Obviously, you need to change out the battery pack - I had the same problem after years of using my KONE. My email to Dirt Devil was quickly answered by a kurt response of "there are no consumer serviceable parts" in the KONE, and Dirt Devil did not offer to do the job for me. Thus the challenge of changing the battery pack was laid down... and conquered. Here's how to do it:\012
\012 \012

\012\011First, buy yourself the cheapest 3/4-inch wide steel tape measure you can find. You won't be measuring anything with it. Cut off four separate 12-inch sections of the tape measure with scissors. On one end of each section, cut an obtuse point.\012
\012 \012

\012\011Now, take your KONE and remove the "snout". Look down at the top of the motor mechanism and you will see four equally spaced indentations in the out edge of the motor/fan mechanism. The mechanism (itself an inner cone) is latched into the outer cone housing by four integrally molded outer lock tabs. \012
\012 \012

\012\011This is the fun part. Carefully insert each of the tape measure sections between the inner motor mechanism and outer housing molded locking tabs. Do this by working the pointed steel tape measure section between the inner & outer parts. I found this is most easily done by working the tape section from the side of the tab, not by stabbing the point straight. Its' a tight fit, but it can be done. \012
\012 \012

\012\011After all four steel tape sections are inserted (I pushed them in about six inches), using your hands only, grip the inner mechanism and firmly try to "rock" the mechanism out from the outer housing. It took me some effort, but after working it a couple of minutes, the inner mechanism popped out.\012
\012 \012

\012\011Use a Phillips screw driver and remove the eight screws that hold the inner mechanism together. Gently work the two mechanism halves apart. You'll see the battery pack, which consists of six rechargeable C-size NiCad batteries tack-welded together. Slip the two wire motor leads off of their battery pack connectors and remove the battery pack.\012
\012 \012

\012\011Now what? Well, I took the battery pack to my local Batteries Plus store. I hope you have one nearby, because you're not going to be able to get a replacement from Dirt Devil. I showed the technician at Batteries Plus the battery pack and got a response of "No problem. Five minutes. $25." Actually, it took him about four minutes to tack-weld a new pack with the wire connectors. It still cost $25 - well worth it.\012
\012 \012

\012\011To reassemble, just reverse all the steps, except you won't need the steel tape sections to put it back together. Just insert the inner mechanism into the outer housing and push. \012
\012 \012

\012\011My KONE now works like new - Good luck with yours. \012

Battery charge I just purchased a new battery pack insert for my Roomba, Replacement was a breeze and it now works great. My question is; The last battery I bought ( not from you) was a full cased roomba battery pack that didn't last a year. Roomba says leave the r Roomba charging all the time so it's ready when you need it, and that's nice but I feel that leaving it charging like that it will kill the battery faster as it is always warm to the touch. These battery's should last at least 5

Dave you are correct. You should never over-charge anything like a Roomba, Cel Phone, etc. That will kill a bettery very quickly. ... Roomba Robotic Floor Bagless Vacuum

The battery will not charge in the sweeper. I can remove the battery and wire it to the power supply for charging and it will charge up and run the sweeper. I have a Kirby Heritage II Turbo and I need a user's manual, but can't find one anywhere. I have to replace the fill tube in the bag and can see the cable tie on top that holds it in place, but don't know how it's attached to the mini-emtor. If I can't replace the fill tube, will tape fix it? If I just taped it; will it hold? Thanks.

Taping usually just causes a mess. The mini-emptor has coarse threads on it that the fill tube screws on to. Occasionally there is a cable tie on the bottom which is not really necessary. If you cut the tube near the bottom, you can get hold of it's ... Kirby Heritage II Vacuum

My 400 series Discovery Roomba will no longer charge. It shows a green "charged" light, but when I hit clean, all lights/vacuum, etc just go out and it stops. Irobot says that the entire unit needs to be replaced, but it has to have something to do with the charging mechanism. Any Ideas? I've tried the system reset, and removing/replacing the battery. No effect. The robot doesn't give me the "uh-oh" beeps to be charged. It just stops and goes dead.
