Having problems with your Dyson Ball DC24 Bagless Upright Vacuum ?

I was in the middle of using my vacuum when it quite on me. I tried multiple things including letting it cool off for a while as I was using it to vacuum my car outside and it was pretty hot. I also dismantled it according to the directions and looked for blockages and didn't find any and lastly I cleaned out the brush and put it back on. I am out of solutions. The vacuum is not that old; we have only had it for a few months. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank You, Karen

Hi the problem you are more than likely having is with the wires that go into the vacume they are not that secure and do work loose.

now if you remove the cylinder that you empty, now you see where the wire goes into the back of the vac, well if you look at the front of the vac in the same place the wires go into the vac you will see a little inspection panel held on with star shaped screws.
you need to undo this to get to the wires

once undone you will see how the wires are secured into the vac you need to undo the connectors screws that secure the wire and remove the mains wire from the vac
now cut about 5 inches off the wire and then peel the outer cable back and cut it back so the two inner wires stick out as much as they used to, then refit the wires in the vac and close it all back up

dont do this with it plugged in as you will give yourself a shock.

when its back together check the fuse in the plug it may need changing due to the short its best if you change it anyway, then switch the vac on and see if it works

give me a shout back if it dont.

please dont mess with it if you are unsure what you are doing as you could cause harm to you and others if you dont put it back together properly
let me know how you get on ok

My Kirby shampooer - G4 - hardly used any water from the tank and no suds at all. Pet hair did blow out of the small slotted holes in the tray as I moved the shampooer back and forth, but the carpet was basically dry. I did vacuum before shampooing, so the brush part seemed to work great during shampooing, but no water! The small screen was stuck in the crook of the hose that attached to the tank so I did get that out and put it on the small hole on the tank, but it didn't make any difference. I

For some reason, when I tried to put the floor vacuum attachment back on and vacuum the carpet, I realized that the belt was not engaging. the belt is in there and not broken, but it is not turning the beater brush. it is just hanging loose around the brush. I was vacuuming my room and all of a sudden I hear this loud noise, then notice the roller brush isn't spinning. Thinking too much hair was caught I separated it from the rod and hose to clean it out, but noticed that the roller brush didn't move at all while I was cleaning it. I've cleaned the brush before and it would roll around with little effort, but this time I couldn't move it at all. After removing hair and string I put the vacuum back together and started it up, but the noise continued,

I have two old identical 5842's that I use in the garage and around the house. The belt broke on one so I bought a bag of 2 genuine Eurika "U" belts, which is the correct belt for this vacuum. They were obviously smaller than the original belt because they were not stretched out. When I put the new belt on it lasted about 20 minutes and then came off. I put it back on and ran the vacuum with the cover off to see what was wrong. Everything looked fine except the belt rides to the outside edge of

I took the cover off the brush so I could cut off all the hair that was wrapped around it (vacuum was working fine, I just noticed the hair). I pulled the brush/spinner thing off one side, cleaned everything, popped it back in where it belonged, and tried to make sure the belt was in the proper alignment. My Bissell Model 3760-4 is not working properly. The belt has been replaced (and checked 3 times), but the brush bar does not move when the brush motor button is on. The little metal turning piece that turns the belt is turnable with one's finger when the belt is off, but when we put it all back together and turn on the vacuum, the brush bar does not go around and the burning belt smell returns. Hoover Windtunnel U5750-900 Agitator brush is weak. It turns fine if I tilt the vacuum back, but it slows to almost 1/4 speed when it touches carpet, even on the highest carpet setting. I've replaced the agitator belt twice. The brush used to turn powerfully even on the lowest (Hard Floor) setting. Ideas? I should probably lube the agitator brush ball bearings, and re-check the belt, but, other than that, I'm stumped.

I have a self propelled Royal Dirt Devil vacuum model number 087900 and it goes backward fine but forward has to be pushed so hard it's impossible. Is this a switch? Do you know about how much the part would cost and can it be done by a beginner. We fix a lot of things ourselves but we aren't mechanics by no means. We put a brand new belt on it. I don't think it can be put on backwards and brush turns fine. Where is the switch? Use layman's terms.
