No suction Just received my refurb. dyson animal bagless. Finally figured out how to get it all together, turned it on and there is no suction coming up thru the beater bar. The hair is just collecting around the bar and not going up into the canister. It appears all the suction is going thru the open red end of the attachment hose, which has a vented cover piece. Am I missing a piece or is there a switch to turn of the attachment suction?

So the red hose isn't connected to a part on the vaccum so like it is connected to the connester but not to an opening just above the beater bar, this is the only idea i can supply you with. good luck, maybe i got lucky and helped you out. ... Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

I have the same problem with intermitant power, however, it does not make sense that the problem is in the upper powerhead (which is what a repair guy told me) because-- when I use the other attachements it is fine. The problem only occurs when I use the carpet (big)attachment so that the roller will not turn. Couldn't it just be in the area where the bottom of the handle attaches into the carpet attachment?

You can test the auxiliary plug to the roller/beater attachment with a volt meter if you know how and take precautions. Check for 115-120 volts at the beater/roller attachment plug. If voltage is there and the beater/roller doesn't run, the proble ... Kenmore 23612 Progressive PowerMate Bagged Canister Vacuum

No suction My vacuum does not seem to have much suction when in use. The agitator brush is rotating but I'm not able to get much off the carpet. The suction is fine when I use the attached wand.

If the belt is stretched, then it can't turn the brush rol under load, if you haven't chenged it in the last 6 months, then I would put a new one one. Also check the dirt inlet by the brush roll for a blockage. ... Riccar 8955 Upright Vacuum
