We have a dyson dc 07 animal the machine was working fine then switched off after returning to the machine minutes later it wouldnt switch on, i removed on off switch cover and used a short piece of wire across the brown wires flicked the wall switch and it worked, aha i thought faulty switch aquired a new one to no avail and now even the short piece of wire trick doesnt work, has the motor died do you think, it wasnt over heating or making strange noises prior to refusing to work

It could be the motor. I'm having to replace the brushes on my DC 05. It appears that you can only get brushes for the YDK motors in the DYSON, not the Panasonic motor. Which might be saying something about the YDK motors. What happens is that the ca ... Dyson DC05 Cylinder Bagless Canister Cyclonic Vacuum

My Dyson DC 24's beater bar switch didn't actuate and the beater bar didn't turn. When I brought it to a certified serviceman he told me that a wire interferred with the switch and all he had to do was move the wire out of the way of the switch. At the time the machine was under warrantee and it didn't cost me anything. Now however, the machine is out of warrantee and the problem has returned. Does anyone know how to access the switch and move the wire out of the way?

Hi- I had the same experience but it turns out there's a small trip switch if you've taken the brush out to clean it, it needs to be reactivated by pressing the small red button to the right of the brush... took me a year to figure this out! Been mea ... Dyson Ball DC24 Bagless Upright Vacuum

I press the on/off switch on the Dyson DC05 and the vauum cleaner switches on unfortunately when I stop pressing it it switches off again. Please advise how I would need to repair this. Many thanks. Regards Michael Segal

If you can make it work by holding the switch down then it must be the switch or a bad connection on it. My Dyson DC14 Blitz It will not switch on. I have checked the fuse in the plug and it is fine. I have also vreified that the switch is working by using a multimeter. I'm guesing that there is an internal fuse blown (or worse!). Any suggestions?

I ended up dismantling the Dyson in an effort to determine the problem. In doing so I discovered that if I rotated the motor backwards by a quarter of a turn, it came back to life. Rather odd really. My Dyson DC15 has suddenly become very reluctant to turn left. This is only the case when it is switched on and irrespective of whether the roller brush is running or not. When the cleaner is switched off it behaves as normal as far as steering is concerned. There is no obvious problem with the ball or steering swivel mechanism. Any ideas ?

My Dyson DC07 vacuum started to run slower after being on for a little while and then would run normally again. I have switched on today and it has just stopped. When I push the start button, on occasions it almost starts and then doesn't. I am wondering if there is a problem with the switch and if so how can it be fixed? Thankyou.

The motor running slower was the motor starting to burn out. The "almost start" is the brushes making intermittent contact with the armature in the motor. \015\012\015\012Your machine needs a new motor Pam. ... Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

It looks like you need a professional repair. If you're really lucky this may just be a break in the flex, or the switch has failed - both relatively cheap and simple to sort out. More likely, though, is a problem with the motor (carbon brushes worn ... Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Dyson dc03 faulty cable The cable from the mains plug to the on/off switch has split and needs to be replaced. How do I gain acess to the switch ? I am a competent engineer but I do not wish to damage the switch/cover to repair/replace acble.

Plugged my Dyson in this morning, switched it on and power came on for not even a second and died. No power what so ever to dyson - checked my house sockets, changed fuse. Still not working - dead as a door mouse. What could it be? Many thanks Sam

It is either your power cable, cable rewind mechanism or your motor. \012\012Try switching it on, and wiggling the lead near the plug and see if it fires up. If it does, remove the moulded plug and fit a standard plug. \012\012If not, lik ... Dyson DC08 Cylinder Bagless Canister Cyclonic Vacuum

My Dyson Root 6 made a loud banging sound, and now its motor emits a strong burning smell every time it's switched on. It runs for a second or two, making a lot of noise, and then stops.
