Hello bnsbryan :

1: Check that the Dyson's brushbar knob is turned to the "Carpets" setting for vacuuming non-delicate and raised pile carpet. Vacuuming carpet on the "Bare floor" setting usually leaves a telltale single wheel mark on the pile, and pickup is severely limited.

2:Locate the removable filter on the side of the vacuum. It will be marked with a raised circular representation.

3:Press down on the release button with your thumb as you lift filter housing up and out

4:Examine the filter for debris. Wash the blue foam and yellow framed filter in cold water. (See Tips section.) Let dry for 12 hours. Do not wash the outer filter housing that snaps into the vacuum; simply wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Replace the filter when completely dry.

5:Locate the airway inspection valve on the opposite side of the vacuum. Press the release button as you lift the valve up and away from the machine.

6:Remove any debris or clogs you find inside.

7:Use a soft cloth to clean up lighter debris and completely clear the airway valve.

8:Tip the Dyson vacuum over to find the U-bend at the back of the unit. Press the release button as you pull the U-bend down and away from the machine.

9:Inspect the U-bend and remove debris. Be sure to line up the release button as you snap the U-bend back into place.

10:Check all removable pieces to be sure they are attached properly and snapped correctly into place. The soleplate should be flush with the cleanerhead.

What you need for this :

Warning :

Do not dry in the oven or microwave.

They sent it to the factory, but it came back still not working right. We did the same procedure over ands over many times than I can remember. I now have the cleaner in my garage and am using my old vacuum because I just can't seem to get anywhere with Sears. Please help me. We paid almost $600.00 and now it can't b

Low suction I have an Electrolux central vac that is approx. 11 yrs old. the suction is very low. this started about 1 week ago. I checked the hose and it is clear. I also went into the attic and checked the pipes(as far as I could see them) and they appeared to be intact.

1) Have you checked the filter? If it is clogged your suction will be low. Also, you could have a pipe loose where you can't see. Make sure that you can get a coin to go all the way through the hose. make sure the suction motor ( the unit ) is coming ... Electrolux Central Vacuum

I have a dyson animal dc24. It is 7 months old and has stopped working. The hand tool is working fine but when I insert it to engage in normal vaccuming the suction stops. I can hear a strange air sound. Also the brush is spinning but it is not picking up. I have taken it apart and checked for a clog but I don't see one. Any advice?

Hi there,I'm sorry to hear your DC24 Animal isn't picking up as well as usual. Although I note you've already checked for blockages, it sounds as though this is likely to be the cause of the issue. To locate and remove any blockages, p ... Vacuums

I havethe first generation purple Dyson Animal model. The brush rotates fine, but doesn't make sufficient contact with the floor/carpet, therefore does not pick up most items on carpets (suction still works however). If I put my foot on it and push down a little, it works. However, since I'm not an accomplished acrobat, this is not easy to do. :-) Any suggestions on whether this is fixable? Or should I just save up to buy a new one?

My Eureka/The Boss doesn't seem to have the suction power it had. However, when I place my hand under the hose, it has good suction, then when I try to pull in a small particle, it doesn't, unless I have the hose nozzle completely over the particle. The vac is 10 yrs. old. I cleaned everything. Someone said the belt. Would the belt matter if the hose doesn't **** well? It is just old and worn out? It did shut off recently do to overheating. No suction Just received my refurb. dyson animal bagless. Finally figured out how to get it all together, turned it on and there is no suction coming up thru the beater bar. The hair is just collecting around the bar and not going up into the canister. It appears all the suction is going thru the open red end of the attachment hose, which has a vented cover piece. Am I missing a piece or is there a switch to turn of the attachment suction?

So the red hose isn't connected to a part on the vaccum so like it is connected to the connester but not to an opening just above the beater bar, this is the only idea i can supply you with. good luck, maybe i got lucky and helped you out. ... Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

My Dyson DC14 Animal doesn't have the suction it used to. The piece in the back on the bottom - a flap it appears - stays open now, causing the machine to make a louder noise than usual. At first, if I put my hand on the flap opening it would close, allowing for normal suction. Now, it stays "open" permanently", causing the loss of suction.
