Having problems with your Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum ?

Doesn't seem to have as much section as when new. Is there some routine maintenance I should be doing?

Answers :

I love the Dyson (DC07), but after 7 or 8 years it lost suction and needed some attention beyond filter cleaning. After much online research I found the few bits of advice that for me were the holy grail. After all of the standard stuff, clear clogs, clean filters etc..... In this order: 1) Remove & empty the canister, ***important****-leave the canister bottom lid open. 2) remove the three star screws at the top of the canister. It'll take a bit of pressure to pull the top up, there's a rubber seal. When you pull it up there will be a rod running down into the canister, leave it be, just pull up the top high enough to clear out any debris. 3) Put the top back on aligning the screws, when you lower it make sure the bottom of the rod engages with the hole at the bottom center of the canister, this is why you left the bottom lid open. Put the three star screws back in. 4) Turn the canister upside down, lid open, and keeping in mind this is thin plastic, gently tug upwards on the four fins that surround the bottom rubber seal. This part is held in by friction, so work your way around the four fins gently pulling until you work the ring they're connected to free. This will give you access to the inside of the canister. 5) remove the round perforated section by tugging upwards on it, set it aside with the fin part. 6) Take the canister to a laundry tub or large sink and holding it bottom up fill it with hot/warm water. Grasping the center section shake it vigorously and turn it upside down while shaking and a bunch of sh*t will come out. Repeat several times. 7) Dry thoroughly, you might use a hairdryer held to the center tube, but only if you can switch off the heat and use air only. Make sure its 200% dry, water will kill your machine 8) clean and replace the round perforated section 9) replace the fin section, I'd suggest pulling the round rubber part off of the fin part and setting it in place on the canister first, then follow with the plastic fin part. If you don't do it this way the rubber won't seat properly and the bottom lid won't close. 10) Close the lid, replace the canister, and staaaaaart suckin like it's brand new.
Belts are not always the solution. Filters and especially the filter housing can be part of it:

I have a Hoover Windtunnel U 6439-900. The agitator brush will not turn. I installed 2 new belts, # 38528034, and # 38528-035 There is so much slack in belt # 3852034 (brush drive) that it cannot grip the brush. There does not seem to be any adjustment to take up the slack. I've put in new belts twice now & cannot get brush to rotate or tighten the belt to the brush.

My Dyson DC17 has lost suction on the wand and is not picking up dirt as it should. I have taken the small part at bottom of the machine off to see if there is a blockage--none that I can see. The flexible tube on wand is very tight and won't extend very much. Dyson sent me a new cyclonic part in April but the machine still doesn't seem to be working properly. My serial number is 260-us-d11545. Is there somewhere I can take my Dyson to get it fixed. I'm very frustrated with it. Thank you.

My Vacuum DC-17 has just quit sucking. It has been making quite a racket since I had the belt changed at a repair shop several months ago. I was told that the belt was a new design and figured that was why it was making so much noise. it seemed to work fine, was picking up dirt and all, but today, when I started vacumming, I noticed it was not sucking air either with the belt engaged or not. My vacuum is approx. 5 years old.

Windtunnel belt I have a new Hoover Windtunnel canister. The belt keeps coming off. It happened a couple weeks ago (several times after putting the belt back on) so I assumed I might need a new belt as it might have dried out at the store. We bought a new home in march. It is a brand new home, with brand new First Alarm smoke/CO detectors. The very first night, we noticed the iving room (main) smoke alarm was "chirping". So we tried to replace the batteries, but when we did, all of the smoke alarms started going off (they are hardwired). We took out the new battery & dealt with the chirp. It is getting to be too much. So we are trying to fix it, but everytime we replace the batteries, the alarms are silent for a little bit, & then

It sounds like your Roomba's brush gears are not working. Run the robot without the dust bin to see if the brushes are turning. If they are not, the robot will need to be replaced. Contact iRobot CS for support at (877) 855-8593. ... iRobot Roomba 4000 Bagless Robotic Vacuum

Hello, I have a problem with my Eureka Powerline bagged upright vacuum. It has a 12 amp motor and is model #4352, Type D. It was probably bought new in 1998. My problem is, while vacuuming today the motor seemed to slow down all of the sudden and then began smelling like burning rubber. I shut the vacuum off to check for blockages but could not find anything blocked. When I then turned it on again it runs but seems to only be running at 1/2 the motor speed and still has the rubber buring smell.

It sounds like a rubber sealing in the motor has come loose and is being constantly rubbed against the walls of the motor with would cause the smell and loss of motor speed caused by the fricton of rubber against the rod so if you can get to the moto ... Vacuums
