Having problems with your Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum ?

I have a dyson model seven all floor. It is making a terrible grinding noise when the carpet knob is engaged. Could something have gotten sucked up into the belt compartment, off the brush belt? Any ideas?

Answers :

That is most likely what happened.\015\012You may want to open up the bottom where the floor brush is and check the condition of the belt and as to whether or not something is caught in the belt or beater brush.\015\012The owner's manual should provide directions on changing the belt.\015\012While you are changing the belt, give the beater brush a good cleaning and add some WD40 to the ends of the brush where the plastic holders are located.\015\012
\015\012If you find my solution to be of help, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up rating from you.\015\012

I bought this vaccuum just a few months ago. Now it barely sucks anything up and it is making this very loud noise. It almost sounds like the brush is going to vibrate off. How is the V-belt tension adjusted (Hoover Model U6439-900)or how do I know if the tension is correct? There seems to be a lot of "play" in the belt and I'm wondering if that is the reason the brush roll only turns as the wheels turn, regardless of the carpet height setting. And yes, the brush roll is set for carpet, not hard floor. Or is the cause of the problem something other than the V-belt? A new flat belt was installed when the machine was professionally serviced so I assume (?) that was a

The V-Belt is not adjustable. There are two ways the belt has no tension: (1) when the handle is upright, a mechanical lever takes the drive tension off the belt, and (2) the brush roll lever setting you described. The upper handle would have to be ... Hoover U6437-900 / U6439-900 Windtunnel Bagged Upright Vacuum

The brushes will not rotate on my hoover vacuum. the belts are in good shape, the motor is turning the vacuum motor, but the belt on the brushes seems loose. I ordered a replacement belt but still nothing. Their is a small "idler" but their dosent seem to be enough tension on the belt. Any ideas?

The belt keeps coming off. There is a little U shaped metal piece that came off when the belt first came off. Where does it go? Hoover Windtunnel U5750-900 Agitator brush is weak. It turns fine if I tilt the vacuum back, but it slows to almost 1/4 speed when it touches carpet, even on the highest carpet setting. I've replaced the agitator belt twice. The brush used to turn powerfully even on the lowest (Hard Floor) setting. Ideas? I should probably lube the agitator brush ball bearings, and re-check the belt, but, other than that, I'm stumped.

On our Hoover U6445-900 (Mach 6.9) we replaced the small belt that goes to beater brushes in front of unit. Upon starting, the Hoover quickly got hot and smoky. We shut it off and looked things over carefully, but the second try also resulted in friction heat on the belt. Now it appears the belt may have stretched due to heat and the brushes won't spin. Any ideas?

Are you sure you purchased the right size belt..the friction you speak of is usually caused by a belt not being the right tightness or a jammed beater brush ... Hoover U6446-900 WindTunnel Bagged Upright Vacuum

Last night as I was vacuuming, I noticed that the belt stop indicator light was on. I pulled out the hair that had gotten tangled around the brush in hopes of solving the problem. It didn't change things. I then unscrewed the entire bottom piece to take out the brush roller. I removed hair from the end piece of the brush roller and reattached the belt; however, I cannot figure out where the microchip is supposed to go so that I can reassemble the base piece by screwing it back together. It seems

Not sure what you mean when you refer to a "microchip" but maybe it is a sensor that works with the belt.\015\012Anyway, if you Google the make and model number of your vacuum you can probably get an exploded view or owners manual that might indicate ... Vacuums

Bought a new sweeper and brush ( beater bar ) does not turn. The large belt is fine and turns. The small thin belt is also fine but does not turn the brush. It is either the wrong belt or is there something that could be missing to put tension on it ?? Thank You [email protected]

Jim, To put tension on the brush, tilt machine forward when upright, move carpet selector knob to carpet. then turn vac on. The hose works great, but the head of the vaccuum does not pick up anything !!! I checked every opening that may have been clogged, but nothing came up. When I hold my hand under the brush/roller, it seems to be putting out more air than intaking air. Particles "dance" on the carpet, but don't get "sucked up" into the vaccuum ? I have had the vaccuum only 1 year, so the brushes should not be a problem. I changed the bag, and checked the belt. The belt and brushes seem to be OK. ?

Hi,My agitator brush won't run on my hoover S3590, I changed the belt, that didn't work. I don't see a possible cause in my book except replacing the belt. I think there could be a short, the brush will come on sometimes when pulling back and slightly lifting. Any ideas would be great and can I fix it myself? Thank you for any help, Bobbie

You do not by a belt by size, buy it by model only. A new Hoover belt will generally be very snug when installed. A small belt fell from underneath my bissell steam cleaner and I notice the brushes no longer rotate when I purchase the part where does it go? I tried turning it up side down to find out where it came from don't know because there is a compartment for the belt access but that particular bet is not broken. It's a very thin belt I can not make out the number located on the belt please help.

If you are unsure about where it goes it may have a diagram in the owners manual. Canister powerhead brush does not seem to spin when the carpet level adjustment is on any level other than "high". Could it be something as simple as needing a new belt and is there a difference in a regular belt as opposed to "whisper belt"?

The belt is worn/stretched to the point that it cannot take the load on low level setting due to more resistance against the carpet and there is also no signifagant difference between the two belts except for expecting a longer belt life from the whi ... I have a Hoover Windtunnel U5472-940. The belt broke so I replaced it. Immediately the next one broke. The belt goes around the brush cylinder and a metal post. I think there is supposed to be something on the metal post to protect the belt but I can't tell from the owner's manual. I also can't find out if this is a part that can be replaced. I've only had the vacuum about a year and a half. Thanks

There is a shaft that comes out of the pump of my Bissell 1623-1 Power Steamer with gears on it. The belt to the brush attaches to it. When I went to change the belt, the belt was fine but the gear itself with the small shaft on it was no longer attached and just dropped out. Hoover Mach 6 U5198-900 vacuum roller brush won't turn. I had opened the bottom to clean hair off the roller. the belts are not broken. When I closed it and turned it on, now the roller brush won't turn. I can push and turn it by hand, but not easily. Then I noticed the brush on/off switch is turned off, but when I step on it, it won't turn on. I was thinking I let something get out of place when I opened the bottom, but can't see what.

The belt on my used Eureka Boss 5857 upright slips off the end of the motor shaft every time the vacuum is used. When I turn the brush roll slowly by hand, the belt walks toward the end of the shaft. It looks like there was a plastic projection from the base that snapped off, and maybe that plastic piece used to block the belt from falling off. Do I need to try to reconstruct that plastic piece, or is something else wrong?
