Stopped running My mother's Oreck vacuum sound as if there was something bogging the rotating brush down. I pulled the bottom cover off and found nothing wrapped around or restricting the brush. I tried to finish vacuuming with the problem then I turned it off to move a chair and turned it back on it would do nothing. Any suggestions as to what could be causing the vacuum to sound as if the rotating brush is being restricted from turning. There was not odor of burning as if the motor was in a bi

Hi. I have a Kirby from back in the early 90s (model G3D). Never had major issues with it. Can't remember the last time I had maintenance/tune up done. It's just sounding different when I run it the last few times...almost like it's louder and kind of echo-ey. Still suctioning well, but something's not right and I don't want to run it until I know if anything's up. Any suggestions? I'd like to try and figure this one out on my own with your help. Thanks in advance for your help. Marci

I have a DC14. About a wk ago it was making loud sound and bar stopped turning. i unclogged everything....now the suction works great. However, the bar still wont turn. The belt inside is still intact and isnt loose. Several solutions suggested resetting the "Red" button...i have searched the vacuum over and over. there is NO red or any other color reset button. The bar is set down perfectly in there, the cover plate is installed properly. What other problems could there be? Or do i just need to

In my (almost new) Dyson DC31 Animal the rolling brush tends to stop like the bearing was kind of difficult to turn. I opened the side carter and removed the little belt. Without the belt the engine runs regularly. I cleaned the little knots of hairs trapped in the bearing but still the brush runs for a while then stops, tries for a bit then stops again. I even tryed putting a bit of synthetic lubricant with apparently no result. Could it be a defective bearing? Thanks for your help.

Just recently, the motor started to sound extremely loud and it smells like it's burning. The vacuum still picks up everything and all the brushes are turning. Advice? I really like this vacuum and would really like to fix it rather than replace it!

Won't start. My son was using the vacuum & Didn't change the bag. The vacuum was making the full bag smell, but the light was't on & it didn't stop. I stopped him, changed the bag, checked the filter, closed the compartments & turned on the vacuum. Nothing happened. I checked to be sure that it was plugged in, that wasn't the problem. I've let the vacuum "rest" for several days, It still won't start. Any suggestions?

When I vacuum w/ the brush control in the on position it make a really loud noise, almost like a grinding sound. I have looked at it and nothing seems to be wrong, but I notice that the pin that engages the belt seems to vibrate a bit, possibly creating the noise. It started when I accidentally got part of a plastic grocery bag caught in the brush. Could it have stretched a belt? Nothing is caught any other place and it only makes the noise when the brush in in the on position.

Yes, the belt could have been stretched and is now vibrating and hitting other parts and creating a noise if much of the bag got caught under the belt. Hoover U5344-950 My Hoover vacuum is a nightmare! I have had nothing but problems with it since day 1. The powerhead stops working if you try to lower the handle to vacuum. I took it in to be serviced and was told it sat on the shelf for too long in the store and it warped the belt...so it was replaced. Got it home, it worked the first time I tried it, then went right back to no powerhead working and as a bonus it is giving off a nasty smell like it is going to blow up! It now gets really hot to

I was just using my Bosch 1450W bagged vacuum and all of a sudden, the motor just shut down. No warning, no problems. The light still turns on, but the motor is unresponsive. There is a clean bag and filter, and nothing caught in the front roller. The motor sounded fine - no shaking, or weird frequency variations. There were no weird smells, just a little bit of heat, but nothing beyond normal. I've had this thing for several years, and never had a bit of trouble with it. Any suggestions

Chatter We have a Kirby Ultimate G. Since we purchased it it bounces across the floor and the level of the sweeper has nothing to do with it. To get it to stop, it has to be at the highest level. My shark steamer has stopped working after a year of having it (I have already replaced one, I'm a idiot!). My problem; however, is that it will steam, but the steam stops traveling through the actual "mop" part. I tried to stick something through the tubing, but it did nothing. What am I doing wrong? I
