Having problems with your Dyson DC08 Cylinder Bagless Canister Cyclonic Vacuum ?

I had used Dyson DC08 to **** out a wet car carpet. A few days later when using the V/C, there was a burning smell. Subsequently I washed the flexible hose, changed the pre-filter and post filter , but I wrongly put the pre-filter in the spot for the post filter. When the V/C was next used, there was again a burning smell and sparks. The filters were switched, but the V/C would not re-start. What shall I do?

I empty the cannister before each use and clean out the filter monthly. My house has mainly hardwood floors, so I typically only use it on area rugs and 2 small carpeted rooms. Is there any way that I can get rid of the smell? I've tried putting a dryer sheet in the cannister, but this gets stuck in the filter mechanism. Also, carpet fresh clogs th

My eureka vacuum won't suction and starts to smoke when I try to use it. It sounds like it is suctioning when I first turn it on, but after about 20 seconds it begins to smell like burning and does not suction at all. I have tried cleaning and unclogging the filter and everything. It's bagless so I don't need a new bag.

Sounds like your motor bearings are going bad. This is generally indicated by the motor overheating, and the heat transferring out through the motor pulley, which is where the belt attaches. I have a Eureka 4800 series the Boss upright with a bag and Hepa filter. I love it! I was just vacuuming with the hose part and all was well and then suddenly the lower brush came on and a "burning" smell followed. Thought it was the belt so my husband was going to put on the new belt which I had on hand! When he turned it over, the "bar" that holds the belt looks as though it "shot through" the plastic side of the housing on the vacuum. There is melted plastic on the outside of the vacuum and o

I just used my Bissell Proheat, when I heard the vacuum sound get lower and lower then suddenly something "gave" and it got very loud and started emitting a burnt rubber smell. It still worked to put liquid into the carpet; seemed to have trouble getting it out. I checked the tank, filters, belt, and roller and all seemed OK - but when I started up again and looked down I saw sparks in the motor/belt area and shut it down immediately. Any thoughts?

Vorwerk ET 340 - been great but now noticing strong burning smell after vacuuming some hair from the bathroom. Bag is nearly empty. Gave it a rest then unscrewed the cover housing the motor and all looks clean (dust is sucked up the pipe and doesn't appear to get near the motor). When I restarted it, burning smell still there. Are there any filters that might need changing? What could be causing the smell? Could the hair have gotten caught somewhere? Thanks.
