I plugged in my kirby G4 and when i turned it on there was a loud popping sound and sparks came out from the back of the vacuum. Does this mean the motor blew and the vacuum is garbage now?

Motor is sparking and smells like burning rubber. When it first happened I thought the vacuum had something jamming the beater bar. That was the smell it had, like when the belt gets burned. But when we turned it over, it wasn't jamming. Took off the base plate and turned it on. The motor area is sparking and it makes a weird noise (I assume that is because the motor fails and restarts). I looked for loose wires, can't find any. I believe I need some sort of part replaced, maybe even a n

I purchased a Eureka C4910 last year and have a question that I am hoping you can answer. There are two motor actions with this vacuum, 1) the vacuum suction, and 2) the beater bar. The action of the beater bar is that motor is supposed to automatically shut off when the handle is in the complete vertical position assuming the vacuum is stationary, but then turn on when the handle is tilted toward the floor, assuming the vacuum is moving back and forth. The beater bar motor turn-on mechan

HI, my motorized brush barely turns. It makes a hot rubber smell. I took apart and noticed the spindle the belt turns on discolored from heat. Cleaned it, but still no turning of the brush. The vac is a hoover wind tunnel. As it moved accidentally touched the belt/ spindle and burned my hand a little. Very hot in area. Bright spark from motor noted. Was careful not to touch that part!

That means that the belt is stretched and it is slipping on the motor shaft, that is why it is hot and smells like burning rubber. You need to replace the belt. Here is the correct belt you need: ... Hoover S3765-040 WindTunnel Bagless Canister Vacuum

Stopped running My mother's Oreck vacuum sound as if there was something bogging the rotating brush down. I pulled the bottom cover off and found nothing wrapped around or restricting the brush. I tried to finish vacuuming with the problem then I turned it off to move a chair and turned it back on it would do nothing. Any suggestions as to what could be causing the vacuum to sound as if the rotating brush is being restricted from turning. There was not odor of burning as if the motor was in a bi

We have a series e rainbow cleaner. my wife had been using it i turned off and turned the canister up sie down to get the serial number. it would not turn back on.we need a new hose and thats why i was looking for the serial num. it has a rocker switch and the motor will work on low but will not run on the suction side. i have checked the wiring harnesses out as best i could without taken it all apart. im wondering if it may be the switch. it started once and then stopped.

There is one way to verify if it is the switch. It's kind of dangerous though, but not too bad.You need an extra piece of wire, fairly thick.I would use 4 guage myself.Hold it with pliers, just in case it gets hot.Turn the switch on and hold the wire to ... Rainbow Vacuums

My Bissell Model 3760-4 is not working properly. The belt has been replaced (and checked 3 times), but the brush bar does not move when the brush motor button is on. The little metal turning piece that turns the belt is turnable with one's finger when the belt is off, but when we put it all back together and turn on the vacuum, the brush bar does not go around and the burning belt smell returns. The portable part of the machine works properly. It's the brush bar. It has been cleared of hair, etc

Hi, A few days ago I bought a Philips hairdryer (HP4935/22) & have used it only twice. Somehow when I used it this morning some of my hair got caught in the filter at the back of the dryer & the motor slowed down & I think overheated & stopped. Normally the filters come off but I don't think this one does. I haven't turned it back on so as not to possibly damage it even more. I am quite upset as I really love this hairdryer. It's quiet, light, small, powerful & does the job brilliantly. I h

I removed the filter from the motor in the ball. After I cleaned it and let it dry, I put it back in. From then on, it makes a moaning noise when I turn it off after I vacuum. I followed directions to clean it and put it back (it's pretty straight forward and fool proof). I've since cleaned the filter a second time, doing the same steps and it seems to have made it worse.

I am getting very little suction from the motor. The hose is clear, the bag new. When I open the bag cover, plug the hose in and turn the vacuum on, there is next to no suction from the motor. What do you think is wrong? How do I remove the cord retractor to get to the two screws that hold the back of the canopy cover?

Your problem is probably is you don't have a proper seal in your chasis. A vacuum has to be sealed tight or the air will leak out and the seal broken. Check around the whole body after the bag is in and check for any airflow noise. I could help more ... Vacuums

I have a Kirby G7 and it will run on the low speed setting. When i switch to the high speed it starts to spark and smoke near the back of the motor near the windings. Do i have a motor going bad or is there a simpler fix.

It's probably doing that on low speed too, you just aren't noticing. What you'll have to do is get to the motor. Look at the armature and see if it's scared, missing an pieces, scratched up.. if so, then your motor is shot, throw it away.. If not, if ... Vacuums
