Weird noise when running - belt?

\015 It is making a very odd noise when running, sounds like it's revving really high. Reminds me of the noise my old vacuum would make when the belt needed replacing.\015

Hi there,

We are sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your DC16. Based on\012the description you provided, your machine may have a blockage or your filters\012may need to be cleaned. Washing the pre-motor and post-motor filters for\012your DC16 Handheld every 3 to 6 months is an important step toward ensuring\012that your machine continues to function properly.

To locate the pre-motor filter:

\342\200\242 \012Remove the\012machine from the charger

\342\200\242 \012Remove the\012clear bin and cyclone assembly by pressing the button on the top of cyclone\012assembly then separate the cyclone from the main body of the machine

\342\200\242 \012The post-motor\012filter is located underneath the vents on top of the main body assembly just\012above the handle. Lift up on the small lip at the edge of these vents.

\342\200\242 \012Wash both\012filters, including the white and blue plastic scrim, in cold water (no soap)

\342\200\242 \012Leave the\012filters to dry at room temperature for 24 hours or more

When placing the filters back into your machine\012locate the small plastic "pin" that sticks out just beneath the black motor\012cover in the main body of the machine.

Be sure to position the pin in the small hole on\012the blue plastic portion of the scrim and the blue sponge will face away from\012the motor cover.

If following the steps above does not resolve the problem, please contact us directly, 1-866-693-9766 (US) or 0800 298 0298 (UK), so we can provide further assistance.

My bissell model 18Z6 has developed a loud noise and vibration when the brush is running. I have removed the brush assy and cleaned all the hair, etc but still the noise. I ran the brush motor with the belt disconnected and all seemed ok, but of course there was no load on the motor. When I vacuum w/ the brush control in the on position it make a really loud noise, almost like a grinding sound. I have looked at it and nothing seems to be wrong, but I notice that the pin that engages the belt seems to vibrate a bit, possibly creating the noise. It started when I accidentally got part of a plastic grocery bag caught in the brush. Could it have stretched a belt? Nothing is caught any other place and it only makes the noise when the brush in in the on position.
