Having problems with your Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum ?

Strong sucking in hose

\015 We have the DC17. Every time I try to use the hose, the suction is so strong that it sucks the hose right in and it is not useable. Could it be a blockage??? I wouldn't even know where to begin if it is...Thanks in advance for your help!!\015

Answers :

Sounds like either the stiffeners within the hose have failed, or there is a blockage as you mentioned.

See if the hose feels weak at the point where it collapses. If not, look for a blockage in the vacuum head, or remove the hose at the vacuum head end and look for a restriction in the hose or the vacuum head port.

I'm using Miele Medivac vacuum and I just sucked in a small plastic eye drop container by accident(I sometimes take off the brush part to **** in 'small enough' articles). And it is jammed in the part where the plastic hose connector bends. I think I can take it out if I can just disconnect the long necked plastic hose connector that connects the metal wand part and the hose part. Is it designed to be disconnected or should I not even try it?

No suction vacuum won't pick up -- I've checked the bag, hose...and it seems to have no sucking power. The internal hose may be jammed (I vacuumed up a lot of shredded paper), but nothing as far as I can stick in fingers in. I don't have a metal coat hanger to slip down, but I'm afraid that might tear the hose and then the darn thing won't work anyway. :o(
