Dyson animal won't push on carpet; turning off then on works for

\015 This vac is 2 years old and has been working fine up to now. Took off belt and checked for debris in the area, but found none.\015

Answers :

First check to see if the gray plate that you removed to access the brushbar is back on the machine properly. Also, make sure that the long black strip on the plate is on properly and is not making it harder to push the machine.
\015\012
\015\012Lastly, you are able to remove what is called a "ropeseal" from the bottom of the machine which will allow more air to flow underneath the machine. This won't affect the suction power of the machine.
\015\012
\015\012To remove the ropeseal, take the gray soleplate off again and have a look at what would be the inside of the plate - you'll see a long, thin piece of rubber/foam that looks like a rope/string sitting in a groove all the way around the openings that the brushbar bristles stick through. Remove the seal and keep it in a safe place. Your machine will be easier to push now.

I havethe first generation purple Dyson Animal model. The brush rotates fine, but doesn't make sufficient contact with the floor/carpet, therefore does not pick up most items on carpets (suction still works however). If I put my foot on it and push down a little, it works. However, since I'm not an accomplished acrobat, this is not easy to do. :-) Any suggestions on whether this is fixable? Or should I just save up to buy a new one?

I have a Dyson all-floor model (not the ball). I recently replaced my carpet to a Frieze. Since replacing the carpet, the Dyson is extremely hard to push. It almost forms a "seal" with the carpet. Seems to work fine on Berber carpet and laminate floor. My husband has checked to make sure the brushes are working, hoses are not clogged and belts are OK. I've had it for about a year. It is virutally impossible to push on the new carpet. Any ideas?

My dyson animal is hard to push on carpet - the beater bar is still operational. When I turn off the beater bar and run the vacuum on hardwood the beater bar stops moving, but it still ''rolls'' on the hardwood - it doesn't pull up like it used to. It also seems to not be picking up as well as it used to, although no blockages are present and the filter is clean.
